Three Things to Know About Our Cabin: (1) @toadstoolcottage is small but mighty! The entire cabin is only 860 square feet, but the floor plan does make it feel bigger than it is. Because of its petite nature, the cabin may feel a bit intimate for more than 4 adults - but 5 guests can sleep very comfortably, and the couch is not a bad option for a 6th! (2) Our cabin was built in 1946 which means it is full of character! When remodeled in the fall of 2020, much of the original craftsmanship was intentionally kept to preserve the quaintness and authenticity of the cabin. You may catch glimpses of the age of the cabin in some of the floorboards and the original shiplap. We consider these features and quirks to be well-earned badges of honor and a testament to the home's steadfastness and vintage soul. (3) Sitting at an elevation of 5,650 ft - our cabin is PURE MAGIC during the snowy winter months; but it can require a little more planning, awareness, and an extra adventurous spirit. A 4-wheel drive/ all-wheel drive vehicle is REQUIRED to stay at our cabin during the snowy months. Please see our "Other Details To Note" section for more information.
Mike was awesome and the place was great. We loved our stay. House stocked with paper towels and toilet paper, most hosts should take notes from Mike. Thanks again, would happily visit again and recommend to friends.
Mike’s place was absolutely beautiful! The home was very clean. The amenities were above and beyond. I am a big cook and found everything I needed in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were warm. We loved the backyard. They had games we played and movie channels we watched. It was during a winter storm so we had a beautiful fire going in the evenings. We can’t recommend their place highly enough! ❤️
We had unforgettable family vacation. We will come back again for sure. Host Mike was surprisingly response fast and kind. We felt he was really care about us. Beautiful peaceful warm atmosphere . Can not wait to come back here again.
This cabin was fantastic! Quaint, clean, and well-decorated. The surrounding forest was beautiful and the view from off the mountain is breathtaking. My only tips are about the location: the cabin is located in a very windy and at times steep neighborhood 25 minutes up a mountain, so be careful when you are driving there for the first time not to take a wrong turn. My friends and I stayed here for two nights in late March, and the second night there was a bad snowstorm on the mountain so all the main roads were shut down unless you had snow chains for your car, so if planning to come in the winter months consider getting snow chains. Because of this me and my friends didn't get back to the cabin until morning, but luckily Mike was such a good accommodating host that we were able to check out late because of the delay. It was also incredibly foggy on the mountain late at night this time of year so drive slowly and carefully - I could barely see 20 feet in front of the car.
A small and quiet community of 7 charming homes all built in the 1940's by notorious mobster Bugsy Seigel. No true crime drama here though, just peaceful mountain cottages nestled among towering pine and oak trees. Only minutes away from Lake Arrowhead Village and all its great shopping and dining, and very close to popular hiking trails and other attractions.
A car is definitely needed to get around in the mountain communities. All the roads to our house are paved, and parking is off-street along the right side of the house. Parking accommodates up to 2 cars parked one in-front of the other. The neighborhood is great for going on a walk, but you will need to drive to any stores or restaurants.
*When it snows, four-wheel-drive (and sometimes snow chains) are necessary to safely traverse the steep mountain roads in the area.
