For an unexpected and adventurous holiday, look no further than this 16th-century barn conversion near Coniston. There’s space for a mixed group of people across the main, semi-detached building, and you’ll find a separate structure in the garden which functions as a den with extra facilities. The front door of the property opens into the dining area, and the house spreads out from this point. It’s an area which shows the building’s past, with wooden beams and a vaulted ceiling all lovingly preserved. To one side, there’s a short staircase which leads to a lounge area. The decor is similar, but instead of a grand dresser, you’ll see a wood burner for cosy evenings. Return to the dining room, then go through to the kitchen. It’s spacious and well-equipped, so you can make your favourite meals. There’s also a laundry room. This level has the master bedroom, which features a super-king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower. Head to the lower ground floor, where you’ll find the remainder of the bedrooms, including another super-king-size room, a twin bedroom and two single rooms. Additionally, there’s a WC and a family bathroom. Outside, you’ll see a stone terrace with furniture and a BBQ, and a games room. This is in a different structure and has a kitchenette, WC, seating area near a wood burner, and a pool table. You’ll have plenty to do in and around the property, and there are lots of walks and bike rides which you can start from your front door. If you need supplies or fancy a trip into town, go around the lake to Coniston (2.5 miles). On rainy days, why not go for a day out at Wray Castle, 7 miles away?
