Kiama Towns & Villages
The Kiama region boasts a number of towns and villages, each with its own unique character. From Minnamurra River in the north, Gerroa in the south, and Jamberoo in the west, there are a wealth of wonders to discover, whether you’re here for a brief stopover, a long weekend or an extended escape.
GERRINGONG Bombo & Minnamurra have breathtaking scenery. A number of sheltered swimming spots. Boasting spectacular walking trails. Beginning at the mouth of the Minnamurra River and heading south, you’ll find some of the region’s most unbelievable natural landscapes. Arriving at Bombo Headland and Cathedral Rocks might feel like you’ve landed on the moon, but you’re still earthbound. There’s a reason this part of our coastline is loved by photographers and film directors alike, it’s truly unlike anywhere else.
At Minnamurra, the sheltered waterways where the river meets the ocean are ideal for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing. Head on up to the Minnamurra Headland whalewatching platform for seasonal sightings of these majestic creatures, and great views year-round. Enjoy the greens of the local golf course, take to the surf at popular beaches, or set off on the iconic Kiama Coast Walk. Gerringong & Gerroa With surf as far as the eye can see, rolling hills and ocean pools, the twin towns of Gerringong and Gerroa deal exclusively in laid-back lunches, wonderous walks and glamorous getaways. From the fresh air freedom of beaches that stretch for miles, to the carefully crafted flavours of locally distilled beer and wines, you’ll find your fix, whatever your vibe.
In Gerringong, enjoy views over Werri Beach from cafes and restaurants with cult followings, meander through galleries and boutique shops, or enjoy fun for the whole family at beaches, parks and pools. Gerringong is the southern extremity of the Kiama Coast Walk, so take off those hiking boots and put your feet up for a while. You won’t want to leave. To the south, Gerroa is a gem atop the golden crown of Seven Mile Beach National Park, a favourite destination for families, swimmers, windsurfers and surfers, and a top-notch spot for braving those surf breaks for the first time.
Jamberoo - Whether you’re looking for quaint winding lanes, boundless character and country hospitality, wonderful wildlife, or an adrenalin fix, you’ll find it here. Jamberoo is just a short drive inland from our picturesque coastline, but feels a world away. A refreshing mix of rolling rural hills, lush rainforest and the rush of heart-racing attractions. Feel the spray of lively waterfalls on a visit to Minnamurra Rainforest’s boardwalks, or get your heart racing on immense water slides and rides at the iconic Jamberoo Action Park.
