Pataua North beach is unpopulated in the winter months - you might even have the place to yourself! Then in summer, this coastal paradise comes alive with camp site guests or families visiting holiday homes or those lucky enough to live here year round. Tahi Eco Farm is located a short drive along Pataua North Road. There are walking trails that range from a short stroll through native plantings and around a restored wetland, to a more challenging two-hour hike that takes you through the stunning native forest on the lower slopes of Ohuatahi. All visitors wanting to do the walks (Sundays between 31st December and 4th February) are required to sign in and out at either the Tahi Café or the main Tahi Barn carpark. Situated onsite is Tahi Cafe offering breakfast and lunch dishes, freshly baked muffins and scones, together with great Peoples coffee and Kohu Road ice cream. There is also a convenience store located at Treasure Island campground in Pataua South (access via the foot bridge).

Road access to this holiday home is via Whareora & Pataua North Roads. Both are sealed & well maintained (although somewhat windy in parts). Most visitors to this area walk or bike to the beach or nearby areas. You cannot access Pataua South by car only via the foot bridge. There is a boat ramp on the corner of Aubrey & Pataua North Roads.
