Das Personal war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Die Buchung der Safari war problemlos möglich. Das Apartment ist dunkler, als es auf den Fotos erscheint, insgesamt ist die Anlage etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Das Abendessen war gut, jedoch im Vergleich zu anderen Restaurants auch deutlich teuerer und Preis/Leistung daher nicht ganz erfüllt. Da die Anlage abseits gelegen ist, kann man für ein Abendessen nicht woanders hinfahren. Die Zufahrtsstraße ist sehr holprig, grundsätzlich mit einem normalen Auto machbar, aber sicherlich nicht empfohlen.
Archie’s place was completely undersold, we got far more than we ever thought we would when looking at the listing. This place has the feel of a safari lodge and sets you up to explore the area from an inviting country estate. Without a doubt one of our very best finds. Thanks Archie and staff for a great stay.
Beautiful setting overlooking the orchards in the valley below. The room had everything and the food we ate at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was delicious.

Hitgeheim Country Lodge is well situated in the Eastern Cape which features one of the best climates in the country and is close to the well-known Addo Elephant National Park and other Big 5 Game Reserves.
The name Hitgeheim is derived from our surname Hitge - "Home or place of the Hitge Family" - German, in Dutch it's known as "Big Secret", hence Addo's luxurious secret.
The Hitge family relocated to Addo from Oudtshoorn in 1990 and purchased this 238-hectare property of pristine Uitenhage Bushveld in 1999 with the vision of developing an exclusive thatched lodge.
The Hitge family prides themselves on putting something back into the community through training and supporting local charity organisations. Hitgeheim Country Lodge opened its doors in October 2003 and the rest is history.
