Ozamiz City holds the title of being the Gem of Panguil Bay” of Northern Mindanao. A getaway of Misamis Occidental and a melting pot of various cultures and traditions. Ozamiz is known as the historical and pilgrimage destination in Mindanao. To name a few:
* The Cotta Fort and Shrine, a fort built in 1755. Served as a citadel against marauding pirates during the Colonial period.
* Ozamiz City Museum- a small museum that keeps a treasure trove of antique pieces.
* Ozamiz Cathedral- while its modern construction is far from the original 18th century look; it’s worth paying a visit.
* Bukagan Hill- a secret of 4 heritage bells whose chimes were probably last heard in the 1940s. Surprisingly, it’s still there today… in silence.
The people are hospitable, warm, and incredibly welcoming. Just by walking down the street, you can see people smiling at you and willingly offer their hospitality.
Ozamiz City may not have the finesse of other big cities. It’s never short of heritage allure. It’s a quaint town ambience that charms her every visitor.

Ozamiz City is a small and compact city that can easily be explored on foot, tricycle and pedicab. Tricycles are the most common mode of transportation in the city and can be easily hailed from the streets.
