Location, location, location. This bohemian chic space is the 1600 sq ft lower half of a 2 story duplex in the heart of the Corktown Historic District. This space has everything you need for a short or long stay on what is arguably one of the safest streets in the city, walking distance to a plethora of bars and restaurants and a 5 min rideshare to all the downtown venues. In other words, close to all the action, but a quiet, peaceful place to retreat at the end of a day of adventure. This 1893 duplex suffered a fire in the 1990s and was completely gut renovated, with very little original material left. So, what you will experience is a bit more of a modern, open floor plan space in the shell of an old victorian. I have filled the walls with local art and relics collected during my several decades of historic preservation work in the city.
Roberts home was as described and we felt right at home. Was clean and provided everything we needed and more. Quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Would return again
Beautiful home, comfy beds, and great design! Three of us stayed for a work trip and this was one of the favorite Airbnb’s any of us have stayed at!
Lisa and Robert are amazing hosts. They were so responsive and helpful! The place was so cute, clean and central. The neighborhood is walkable and there were coffee shops, restaurants and bars all within walking distance. Hosts were also very flexible. Would definitely stay here again!
Absolutely loved this place! Very close to many different attractions that Detroit has to offer. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home! Emilia
A quaint, pedestrian friendly mixed use historic district in the shadows of the predepression skyscrapers of the central business district. Originally built by Irish immigrants from County Cork beginning in the 1830s, the neighborhood is experiencing rapid gentrification and Ford is investing close to a billion dollars in the old train station and a mobility campus around it ...three blocks from House Ultreya. There is a mature food and bar scene as well as a growing number of new additions.
There are MoGo Bike stations in the neighborhood. Share rides like Lyft and Uber are available most hours of the day and quickly if you are heading to an event downtown. Otherwise, you can stroll around Corktown drinking and dining, or walk thru the newly renovated Roosevelt Park in front of the Michigan Central Depot and take a saunter down the Southwest Greenway connection to the Detroit Riverfront. It is all within reach.

After a few decades working on preserving the built environment in Detroit, I am restoring a farm in Northern Michigan and became a long distance hiker- chasing the triple crown of American hiking and a recurrent pilgrim on the Camino de Santiago. So although Corktown will always be my home, I hope you will make yourself at home while I am away. Ultreia!
