苏太仆区 · 整套平房 · 2室4床3.0卫 · 可住8人 · Helipad Luxury Helicopter Bungalow
Make your trip to Chiang Mai memorable by staying in a private treetop resort! Helipad is a unique property— a cluster of large bamboo bungalows raised high off the ground with a vintage Huey helicopter in the main room. Located in the heart of trendy Suthep district at the foot of Doi Suthep, Helipad is an easy walk from popular venues like Lan Din and Baan Kang Wat. Helipad has 2 large bedrooms, a small pool, and many amenities. It's a place you'll never forget! Helipad has two floors. The ground floor has a tropical garden, a small swimming pool, patio and deck lounge areas, and a full bathroom. Ascend the handmade wooden spiral staircase to the second floor, and you'll find three interconnected bungalows. The first is a living and dining area, with a vintage Huey helicopter inside (yes, it's real!). The first thing you will see are the massive, handcrafted round windows for views and beautiful light. The living area has a large counter for workspace and dining, kitchenette supplies, and lounge seating. The helicopter itself has comfortable lounge space and a tv. The living room is fully air-conditioned. Cross over the atrium area to reach the other two bungalows. Each houses a bedroom with a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom. In addition, each bedroom also has a loft with an extra queen size bed on top. Bedrooms are fully air-conditioned, and bathed in natural light from skylights and very large handcrafted windows.
This is truly the nicest neighborhood in Chiang Mai. It is NOT in the city center, but it is just minutes to downtown by Grab or motorbike. It has a secluded feel with many interesting small shops and cafes in walking distance. It's at the foot of Doi Suthep mountain, near the meditation center of Wat Rampoeng. A perfect jungle getaway!
Please read the descriptions below of what is available within 15 minutes walking distance or less…..
——— Art Community and Shops ———
Lan Din - A cluster of cafes, shops and weekend market right next door!
Ban Khang Wat - a modern local art community with a small selection of restaurants, coffee shops and local artisans who make, live and sell their wares. Small art festivals and film screenings also take place here on occasion.
———Restaurants and Coffee Shops ———
Restaurants - within walking distance of our house is a wide selection of small local restaurants and eateries. I've never counted but there are at least 20 places within 15 minutes walk of our house, with more coming all the time.
There are coffee shops everywhere, and almost all have wifi and nice places to sit and relax.
There are also noodle shops, food stalls including vegetarian options, prepared food markets (esp. in the evening), and local bar/beer gardens.

Cooking Schools
I can recommend a variety of cooking schools, and can help book if you want me to.
Meditation
This area is famous for its meditation temples- Wat Rampoeng, Wat Umong, and others. But usually they offer longer courses. There is one temple (Wat Suan Dok) that also has one-day meditation courses— it’s about a 15min bike ride from the Helipad.
Thai Massage
There are many, many massage shops around Chiang Mai, including in our neighborhood. The price depends on the sale of massage you want and the amenities the spa offers. Basic Thai massage is usually about 300THB per hour.
Hiking & Biking
Doi Suthep Non-Hunting Area, close to the Helipad, offers a beautiful series of nature trails leading to and around the area near Wat Umong. This is a great place to take a stroll and get a glimpse of local wildlife from wild deer, wild red cows, to exotic local birds, insects and even smaller reptiles. There are some ancient ruins there also.
There are many trails leading up into the jungle of Doi Suthep National Park, the most famous of which is a trail that goes all the way to the top of Doi Suthep mountain (called the Monk's Trail). The trailhead is about 2km from the house.
If you prefer running on a track, there is a public track a few hundred meters down the road in Pong Noi Village.
Chiang Mai University (CMU) agricultural campus (not far from here) has quiet country roads frequented by local joggers and cyclists each morning and evening.
Mountain biking is very popular here, and several of the best trails start at the top of Doi Suthep and end up not far from the house. Very convenient! Mountain bikes are available for rent in different parts of town.
Free Bicycles
We have a few very basic bikes you can use for free at the Helipad.
We can't always guarantee they are ready to roll (flat tires and such) but we do try to keep them ready.
Biking is a fun way to explore the area. You can reach Nimman in approximately 15 mins and the Old City in approximately 20 mins - the road goes gently downhill on the way there.
———Temples———
Wat Umong - one of the oldest and most beautiful temples in Chiang Mai. Partially set underground its name translates as the tunnel temple. It's set completely within nature. It's the number #1 attraction on Trip Advisor and can be accessed by a 15 minute walk along the village road or much more interestingly, pick up the start of the nature trail at the south gate, just a short walk from our place as described above (Doi Suthep Non-Hunting Area).
Wat Ram Poeng is a beautiful temple complex with many practicing monks and outside visitors. It is one of the largest centers in Thailand for participating in Vipassana silent meditation courses and it has a real charm and ambience. Our favorite time of day to visit is early morning where you can explore the setting during the quiet hustle of morning prayer and the giving of alms. Take a camera as there are plenty of photo opportunities.
Wat Pong Noi is a large village temple down the street from the house. Each evening the street outside Wat Pong Noi is home to wide selection of street vendors selling prepared food. It’s a great place to visit to pick up a snack or a meal take home - or why not just find a seat and eat on the street. This is one of my favourite places to visit and especially at night time when the place comes alive. Every Monday and Saturday there is a small afternoon/evening market held inside the grounds of the temple which is also worth a look if you happen to be in the area.
By far the best way to get around Chiang Mai nowadays is by Grab or Maxim (share services like Uber or Lyft). Download the app! It's cheap and convenient, and you can pay cash.
Motorbike is also an excellent way to get around, provided you are competent and confident in driving one. Thai traffic and driving habits can be daunting. Please drive carefully, and always wear a helmet! There are many rental shops in town, inc. around Nimman area and clustered around Tha Pae Gate in the Old City.
For exploring the area around the house, we have an assortment of free bicycles here-- just grab one and go!
There is also a lot you can do and see on foot, within, say, a kilometer radius.
