Home away from home! Erkan treated us as old friends and gave us a neighbourhood tour upon our arrival. His English is fluent, and his restaurant suggestions were excellent! Erkan is a lovely, caring person and made our stay super memorable! I highly recommend his AirB&B! P.S. The place is roomy, and the decor is authentic.

Erkan is simply a wonderful host, always available and very caring :) When we arrived, he greeted us with coffee and cookies, which was very sweet! Overall, Erkan is a very interesting and creative person. The house is very clean and cozy (in reality, it's very spacious and newly renovated, even better than in the pictures), and the atmosphere is steeped in the history of this place. From our room window, we had a view of the colorful streets and historic houses of Balat. There's an energy of historical charm in the house, which helps to immerse even deeper into the atmosphere of this district and our travels. I adore the Balat neighborhood, its atmosphere, narrow streets, colorful houses, and aesthetic cafes—everything just as I love it 😍 It's a paradise for influencers, photographers, and anyone who appreciates aesthetics. Once again, thank you Erkan for creating such a wonderful atmosphere, your friendliness, and hospitality. Until we meet again! 🤗

great stay in an historic, renovated and spacious house - and Erkan was always there for us and was incredibly helpful. from Fener to the main sights it's a short and very modern tram ride and Fener/Balat seem to have become the place to stay in Istanbul at the moment - and it's easy to see why. Erkan's place is smack dab in the middle of old Balat, Istanbul, traditionally a Jewish and Armenian neighborhood in the 1920s-30s. He has renovated his apartment beautifully and brought its living quarters up to our present day. It is a beautiful apartment with two floors in an old cobble-stone street lined with cafes and local craft shops. The apartment itself is recently renovated with modern amenities and it is done very artistically. You can literally walk out of the apartment and find yourself with immediate choices for at least five or six cafes, several restaurants, a local grocery, and if you walk five minutes, you will be in the middle of Balat town, where you can get lost in more local cuisines, antique shops and cool boutiques, like my favourite, the vintage radio shop. Also close to public transportation to get to Eminonu and its ferries in five minutes. All in all, Erkan has created a very cool, hip and clean place with tasteful, vintage vibes.

Such a gorgeous place Erkan has pulled together! Right in the heart of Fener/Balat so there are plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shops RIGHT there. Loved sitting on the balcony and soaking up the neighborhood. Erkan met us there, gave me a walkthrough of the neighborhood, took the time to make us feel welcome, and was super accommodating! It felt very safe, the beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. If you are looking for a quiet retreat this might not be your ideal spot - but if you are looking for an absolutely beautiful place in the heart of a genuine neighborhood, book Erkan’s spot, you won’t be sorry!
