The building’s entry systems broke and locked me out for a night. I tried to get in touch with the host, and they asked me to wait outside for at least an hour in the middle of the night during load shedding in order for a maintenance person to let me in. The host took a long time to respond to even my outreach saying I could not access the property. Further no one answered on the emergency number they gave. I would never stay here again, I was left feeling unsafe and was forced to book an emergency hotel. Further, the host took three days to sort out issues raised immediately on checking in. Only one set of keys was provided, the fans in the rooms didn’t work, and the coffee machine was broken. It was a poor experience with the host, which was unfortunate given the house itself is a nice space.
We enjoyed our stay here in Cape Town. The apartment was a great home base for our family, including 1.5 year old. The listing is as pictured and would stay again for location and access. It is walkable to grocery/restaurants (we loved mojo market), with access to several bus lines to access the rest of Cape Town. We did have issues with communication. Propr was timely but we interacted with 10 different people over our stay, which likely led to some of the issues we experienced. We purchased an extra night to provide the ability to check in early and confirmed with Propr during booking, but the original agreed timing could not be met. Additionally, we spent a day and a half chasing a baby cot for our toddler. Finally, we did have a few issues with both the car and pedestrian gates to the property with inconsistent access. Some appeared to be related to load shedding while others occurred outside these time frames.
Sea Point is a vibrant suburb of Cape Town, just outside the city centre between Green Point and Bantry Bay. Sea Point is built around Main Road (of which Regent Rd is an extension), with its many shops (Woolworths, Spar and Checkers), takeaways, restaurants (including the fantastic La Mouette), bars and coffee shops - all within walking distance. Just about everything you need is found in this part of the city.
The popular Sea Point promenade runs the length of Sea Point’s beachfront, from Bantry Bay to Mouille Point and is a hub of activity, particularly in the early morning or late afternoons to watch the sun set right next to the crystal waters of the Atlantic Seaboard. A number of children’s parks run alongside the promenade.
There is also an outdoor gym and a chlorinated swimming pool at the pavilion. It's a great place for running, leisurely strolls, picnics, people watching and taking in the beauty around you. The City Centre, V&A Waterfront and beautiful Clifton and Camps Bay beaches are all a short drive away.
Should you not hire a car: Many amenities are within walking distance and taxis or Uber readily service the area. A bus stop for a popular MyCiti bus route is nearby on Regent Rd. This is a reliable bus service with routes taking you to the inner City. It connects to other routes going to the V&A Waterfront, Clifton & Camps Bay beaches, as well as Hout Bay fishing village. The red open top "hop-on hop-off" City Sightseeing bus stops down on the promenade and is a great way to get to know and explore our city and it's surrounds.
