Inspired by a love for Turkish styling and the ease of modern design, our cave apartment is spacious and light. The apartment comes with a queen sized and a large single bed, comfy lounge with statement accents, plus fold out couch, ideal for relaxing among the kilim pillows. The apartment includes is a fully self contained kitchen/dinning area, a large bathroom with double showers and sinks. The apartment is perfect for experiencing the traditional cave style living after enjoying Cappadocia. Casa Chilai is a beautiful, newly restored spacious cave and stone house in a traditional village street close to the centre of Ortahisar, and just 10 mins from the main tourist sites in Cappadocia. The house has a versatile common entrance layout with 2 separate access to private self-contained apartments. This listing is for the cave apartment that has an open layout. The cave apartment which has been restored from what used to be a barn for animals. You enter the apartment to a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and a working space. This area is separated by beautifully carved arches where you will land into a comfy lounge and bedroom. At the end of the apartment you will find a large bathroom with a double shower and sinks. This listing can accommodate 5 persons. Includes; - bedroom with queen sized bed and a single bed & ensuite bathroom, - spacious lounge, - fold out double couch which sleeps 2 persons.

This place is a wonderful place to stay. I loved the interior and all of the design. I had a pleasant stay here. Jeyda was very helpful when I had difficulties finding her home. I will definitely come back!

Her yerde priz olması, hızlı internet, yeterli düzeyde aydınlatma sizi gerçekten konforlu hissettiriyor. Jeyda Hanım’ın son derece sıcak iletişimi ve bölge hakkındaki önerileri sayesinde güzel bir tatil geçirdik. Tekrar gelirsem aynı evde kalmayı tercih ederim. Her şey için çok teşekkürler…
Jeyda's place was absolutely perfect for the time we spent exploring Cappadocia. Jeyda's instructions were clear and we found the home with no problems. Jeyda was helpful and very responsive and was available to offer local recommendations and advice when needed. She helped with organizing a balloon trip which was an amazing experience. the space itself is a unique cave apartment and is really well finished - the showers are probably the best I've ever used! I would recommend Jeyda's place 100%, it made our Cappadocia experience all the more enjoyable.
Stayed 3 nights as a family of 4. Double bed, single bed and single sofa bed within the same space. Small kitchenette and washing machine both very useful. WiFi signal is great. Brilliant base for exploring Cappadocia. Highly recommend Skyway Travel for a sunrise balloon flight and Doda Hotel a couple of minutes walk away from the apartment for an amazing breakfast and warm welcome. The damp smell from the bathroom was overpowering on arrival, we emptied the dehumidifier every 4 hours throughout our stay and left doors open to air. Please be careful if using the gas hob as rear burner isn’t working correctly.
Evden memnun kaldık, konumu ve tasarımı çok güzeldi. Sadece gözümüze takılan birkaç eksik oldu belki biz görememişizdir ama eklemek istedim. Öncelikle eve terlik konabilirdi, taş olduğu için yere direkt basmak sıkıntı oluyor soğuktu fayanslar. Bir de alt kattaki tuvalette bir koku vardı geldiğimizden itibaren. Onun dışında her yere baktık ama göremedik, tuvalet kağıdı yoktu fazladan, biz peçete alıp koyduk. Bir de mutfaktaki bulaşıklığın altına bir şey konabilir ıslak bulaşıkları koyunca tezgaha hep su aktı. Son olarak da kahve fincanı vardı ama cezve göremedik bu bizimle ilgili ama belki jest olarak küçük bir cezve konabilir :)

We are located in the historic village of Ortahisar, conveniently close to all the major tourism sites in Cappadocia. Comparatively untouched by tourism, Ortahisar still retains much of its traditional ambiance. It’s the perfect base for exploring the fresco-filled rock-cut churches and surreal moonscape of valleys for which the region is famed.
- Casa Chilai is situated in a local village street/neighborhood 5 mins walk from the town centre with easy access to shops, cafes and restaurants and the famous Ortahisar rock Castle and fairy chimney surrounds.
- Quiet and very safe at night with flat access and free parking.
- Local corner store for essentials just 2 mins from house (50m)
- Small local outdoor fruit and vegetable stand every day (150m)
- Local outdoor market every Sunday (150m)
- Casa Chilai is a 5min walk from Ortahisar village centre and 5 km drive from the main tourist sights of Cappadocia.
- From the village centre you can explore the famous Ortahisar rock castle and also walk directly into the beautifully natural fairy chimney valleys and explore the rock caves and 12th Century Byzantine monastery.
- Beautiful to explore on foot or book a horse tour with Cemal Ranch.
- We are a quieter more authentic village than Goreme which is 5 kms from us, about a 10 min drive.
As Cappadocia is a large region and the sites are spread out we recommend renting a car, or taking a day tour or local taxi to maximise your time.
-Two Airports service Cappadocia
- Kayseri airport is 1 hr (75km) and Nevsehir Airport is 45 mins drive from Ortahisar.
- Daily flights to and from Istanbul to Kayseri Erkilet (ASR) or Nevsehir Airport (NAV) are operated by Turkish Airlines, AtlasJet Airlines and Pegasus Airlines.
-There are also some flights to and from Izmir and Antalya with Sunexpress.
- Airport shuttles operate the one hour distance between each airport and all Cappadocian hotels and Airbnb properties. These must be booked in advance as the transfer buses do not accept customers at the airport without a reservation and we are happy to do that for you if required .
- Private transfers can be organised for individuals and groups.

Hi, I’m Jeyda,- a Turkish New Zealander from Cappadocia. My family is one of the oldest working in tourism across the region. Building on my experiences while also respecting the local culture of the Cappadocia that I love, I recently renovated an old cave and stone village house to call ‘home’ and to share this unique place with you and other globe trotters.
