Nothing ordinary. Our home sits at the intersection of spacious & cozy, quirky & practical, spiritual & hedonistic. Imagine laughing by the fire, BBQing, playing cornhole, sunset toasting on swings with a Mt. Charleston backdrop & stargazing. An array of culinary gadgets, spices, out and indoor appliances will inspire your inner chef. It’s a perfect place to waste a day by the pool or be a base for adventures from Death Valley to Vegas. Once a lake, now a Desert Oasis. Create your story! The house is an open concept with vaulted ceilings. You enter into a spacious living room that comfortably seats up to 14. A huge kitchen, open to the living room, can accommodate 10 around the kitchen bar or 6 around the nook. For a more formal experience, there is an attached dining space for up to 8 with a hutch that holds china from several generations. Off the living room, there is a closet that contains extra jackets, stocking caps, and gloves, in case you underestimated how cold desert nights can be. There is sporting and workout equipment (weights, bench, yoga mats, jump ropes, tennis, and pickleball racquets), and games (poker set, some board games, and Pahrumpopoly if curious about the history of Pahrump)! The space has several windows and natural light. The hallway closet includes a large closet with extra bedding and blow-up beds (for additional guests). At times, it served conveniently as a private office space. You will find a shelf that extends from the rest, which creates a handy desk. Past the hallway to the left is the “second bedroom,” with a floorplan originally designed for two. A fabric divider and storage cubicles create privacy for both spaces. One side of the room has a queen-sized bed, and the other has two full-size futons. You could comfortably fit 4 kiddos on the two futons. The bay windows on both sides look out to Mount Charleston and the well-manicured front yard. This space connects to the second bathroom with a standup shower. On the other side of the hall is a huge master bedroom with a strong “Tex-consin” influence. Warning: this room may cause nightmares for Vikings or Bears fans. We left a little bit of our history and personality on the built-in shelves., a differentiator from a dull hotel. The master flows into an enormous bathroom with two sinks, a large counter space, several cabinets and drawers containing what you may have forgotten, a standing shower, and a bathtub good for washing dogs or small children. There is no way Calgon can take you away in this tub. A large window oversees a 28-year-old rosebush in the backyard, the more mountains. In this space, a clothes rack with storage baskets is strategically located in front of the master closet, which holds a portal to another dimension. We feel obligated to keep this locked for your safety. Enter the backyard: you can get there from this bathroom or the more obvious door off of the living room. You walk out to a tiled deck we have recently named “Fabrizio’s Landing,” after a close friend who meticulously laid new tiles to create an amazing space to eat, relax, and gather by the pool. Around the perimeter are mature palms that are reminiscent of a true oasis. A refreshing pool is set in the middle, perfect for floating in the afternoon sun. At night, the landscape lighting casts interesting shadows against the 6-ft perimeter wall while the pool glows and breathes different colors. Opposite the back bay windows sits the grill pad where the elected chefs can choose their culinary muse - gas grill, Blackstone grill, deep fryer, and water smoker. This magical space is great for intimate and large gatherings and has all the amenities needed for a full day of activities, unwinding, and enjoyment. The “floating bed” is a special place to sleep outdoors in early fall and spring under the stars and becomes a floating cabana with shades in the warmer seasons. It may appear like a trampoline; however, it is not engineered for anything other than lounging. Doing otherwise may lead to injury and compromise the suspension supports. The tour ends with the front yard. Nestled within the pines is the swing pit. It’s a perfect place to begin your day with a cup of coffee or wrap up with a sunset toast. It is engineered to hold five swings (up to 3 people per swing) and is open to the sunset view. The sunset reflection on Mt. Charleston on the other side creates a purple majesty. A fire will extend the evening; if you want even more, you’re welcome to s’more!
Jody’s place was an amazing place to stay. The house had all the amenities a family would need. The pool warmed great and we had so much fun sitting in the front and having a fire in the fire pit. It was the perfect place to relax and stay as a family. Jody communicated quickly and helped with any questions we had immediately. Thank you for opening your home to us and allowing us to stay!
If you're looking for a great place to stay while visiting Death Valley, I highly recommend this spot. It offers a cozy, home-like atmosphere where you'll feel comfortable and relaxed. Plus, it's conveniently situated right between two popular destinations: Death Valley itself and the vibrant city of Las Vegas. If you're planning to explore both of these iconic locations during your trip, this is the perfect accommodation choice for you.
Great spot for a Death Valley place. The entire place is very eclectic! We weren’t around to take use of the outdoor space by the pool, backyard, and fire pit looks awesome. Jody was very communicative and stocked the place with coffee and milk for our arrival. One bed room hosts 3 beds and one hosts 1 queen. Very spacious living area.
