Peter’s place was lovely! The tent was cosy, the cafe had delicious food! Peter was helpful and the location was truly stunning! Highly recommend
Peter and the staff at Back O Th Hill Farm were so lovely and couldn’t do enough to make sure we had a fabulous time. And that we did! The bell tent was fab, so spacious and comfortable. The local walks and pubs were just what we wanted. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful getaway.
We had the most wonderful stay at Back O’Th’Hill Farm in one of the bell tents. There are 4 (very well spaced out) tents … all with amazing views. Everything about our stay was idyllic …. the on-site cafe, our fab bell tent with the cosiest bed (and 2 outside ‘camping’ chairs), watching the sun go down behind pastures of grazing cattle, the amazing new shower facilities, the nearby walks - only a short walk to Bolton Priory and our fav - the ‘secret’ waterfall walk …. oh and a bit of star gazing to top things off! We found Peter and his partner to be exceptionally friendly hosts who are flexible in accommodating the needs of their guests. Nothing is too much trouble! And no they’ve not paid me to write this review and nor am I affiliated in any way 🤣. The above was our experience and we’ll most definitely be back for more!
We loved our stay in the bell tent - real treat to have comfy bed, sheepskin rugs, bedside tables and lamps, as well as access to the cafe. Beautiful views and great to be able to not get in the car and either take short walk down to Bolton Abbey or do longer walk. Will be back. Readers bear in mind we love outdoors and this cushy stay of camping, but you still have a little walk to the loo!
Back O’Th’ Hill Farm is located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, in the centre of the Bolton Abbey and Devonshire Estate, only 10 minutes from the Priory and a short walk from the Valley Of Desolation which has a beautiful waterfall. The location at the heart of a historic working estate does mean that well behaved dogs are welcome, but please be advised that the Estate’s moorland – other than some limited bridleways on the west moor above Embsay – have a specific exclusion for dogs, including on leads. This is due to the moors’ status as an SSSI and SPA. Accordingly, we ask our well behaved dog owners/walkers to respect this, especially for the waterfall area. If you have a dog and would like to visit the waterfall, we ask that you make safe arrangements to keep your dog with us by prior arrangement. Thank you.
