Fontecchio · 整套出租单元 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Artist Studio apartment in historic palazzo
The apartment is one of three apartments at the recently restored Palazzo Galli, first built in the 1700s and later expanded. The apartments are part of a cultural arts initiative known as The Fontecchio International Airport. Founded by American artist Todd Thomas Brown, it represents a hybrid; half Airbnb, half artist residency center. The rooms have vaulted ceilings and walls adorned with original works of art. Be sure to check the other two apartment profiles too! The Artist Studio Apartment consists of two rooms, a kitchen and bedroom, both with classic vaulted ceilings. The kitchen is small-medium, but comes with all basic amenities. The heating system is new, and the kitchen and bedroom each have their own heating unit that can be turned on or off independently. (note: there is no door separating the kitchen and bedroom). The studio apartment opens onto a spacious courtyard that is shared by the other apartments. If weather permits, you're welcome to have your meals and morning coffee in the courtyard. You will likely be the only guests as the third apartment still needs to be completed (I live in the first apartment). You will also likely meet my cat Blu, and my dog, Mr. Bugsy. Both are gentle and full of sweetness.
Nice and cozy apartment with a great view and a private patio which also gives access to other parts of the building, where kids can play. Everything inside was super clean and tidy. The village is really nice and quiet, with few activities and shops. Recommended :)
Todd was made us feel most welcome and he gave us instantly all the information we needed. His place was cosy and nicely furnished and located in a picturesque small village. The Abuzzo area is breathtakingly beutifull. We really enjoyed our stay.
Palazzo Galli is a two minute walk from the central piazza of Fontecchio and the entrance to the historic center. In the same amount of time you can arrive to the local market, bar, butcher, and hairstylist. The historic center of Fontecchio is a wonderful site through which to wander, and you can follow a footpath down to the Aterno river in the valley below. In recent years, Fontecchio has also garnered much attention for its growing artist community and cultural activities, something highly unusual for such a tiny village.
There are buses that pass through Fontecchio a few times a day, but its far more convenient to have a car. Parking is abundant. There is a local restaurant (Del Rio) just outside of town that can be reach by foot, or quick ride. L'Aquila city, the capital of Abruzzo is 30 minutes from Fontecchio, and there are phenomenal sites to visit (Gran Sasso - the second highest peak in Italy, the castle of Rocca Calascio, Santo Stefano Di Sessanio, Sirente-Velino Regional Park and the Piagliares of Fontecchio and Tione) all within just a one-hour drive. Hiking trails are abundant!
