梅里达 · 整套民居 · 2室2床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Art-Filled Gem with Large Garden
Relax in this tranquil, stylish space full of color and local art. The lush front garden competes with the backyard for favorite outdoor space, though with many fruit trees, stone patio and large pool, the backyard is an incredible place to unwind from a day out in the city. The house has optimal airflow and tons of natural light, original and salvaged pasta tile throughout, and a unique, fully-equipped kitchen overlooking the pool. An eclectic mix of old and new, this house will wow you. We named the house Casa Centzontle, after a particular Northern Mockingbird who has staked his claim to the back garden. You will probably see him during your stay! The garden is a main feature of the property, as it takes up about half the space. You will see it through the huge kitchen window as soon as you open the front door. That is, unless you are too busy looking at all of the artwork and design details. It is pretty obvious that our idea of an ideal house is one that has beautiful things everywhere you look. We uncovered previously hidden original mamposteria (stone) walls, used every stone we dug up in the backyard and endeavored to repurpose everything we could as we remodeled. You will see wrought iron gates painted bright blue and turned into headboards, a chandelier of palm branches from our trees hanging from a beam, a display of antique soda bottles unearthed while digging the pool, a dining table and desks using the original interior doors, and large scale paintings in the dining room made of the sliding doors we removed when we rebuilt the kitchen, to name just a few of our favorites. All of the furniture is either refurbished or custom made by local artisans, including our family members. Artwork is by local artists, or purchased locally, including many works by your hostess. There is so much talent in Merida, one needn't turn anywhere else to furnish and decorate a house. After stopping to admire the front garden, as you enter the house, you will walk through the living areas, with the two bedrooms on your left. Next is the dining room and armchair nook and the full and half bath. Also off of the dining room is what used to be an exterior side entrance from street to backyard, now covered and used to house the washing machine. Beyond the dining room is the kitchen, with its huge picture window overlooking the pool and garden, as well as the door to the backyard. Outside you will find an outdoor dining area and various lounging spots, the pool, many fruit trees and other edible plants, a hidden outdoor shower, and the garage and home gym space. The house has great airflow and natural light, with its large windows and many skylights. There are plentiful ceiling fans throughout the house and an AC unit in each bedroom.
Merci Erin
AMAZING. It really is a gem. We loved everything about the house and the garden. We want to live here 😍. Lovely welcome as well with fresh fruit from the garden and tops how to use them. I highly recommend this home!
Without a doubt the best airbnb we've ever stayed at. The house is immaculate. It is decorated amazingly, , very clean, the kitchen was well stocked. We were able to easily cook at home. The beds were very comfortable, and the pool was nice and clean, which was so welcome, as we had temps over 40 c (105 f) during our trip. Taxi rides were simple back and forth and walking to the main plaza was easy as well. The neighborhood is quiet and everyone when bumped into was super friendly. If you are going to Merida this is the place to stay.
Situated equidistant between Parque San Sebastian and Parque Santiago, the house is in the perfect spot to get to know the Merida you know from the guidebooks, and the one the locals live. Parque San Sebastian has free Zumba classes every weeknight, plus pick up soccer and organized softball games, Scouts of Mexico meetings, marching band practice, you name it, plus a gorgeous church and places to eat. It is the neighborhood meeting place, especially on a Saturday night. Parque Santiago hosts free live music every Tuesday night where locals and visitors alike dance and enjoy old time mambo and cha-cha-cha. The cochinita there at Taqueria La Lupita is famous and the church and fountain in the park picturesque. We could really go on and on! A guidebook will greet you on your arrival so you can get the most out of your stay in (in our humble opinion) the best part of town.
The house has a garage for 1 or 2 cars, but street parking is also plentiful.
自我介绍
I am a professional chef trained in holistic and vegetarian cooking, living with my husband, our son and daughter, two cats and one turtle in downtown Merida. My husband Manny and I met while working in the same restaurant kitchen in Oakland, CA, before moving down to Manny's home town of Merida. We worked very hard DIY restoring a colonial home in Merida's Centro Historico and we now happily call it home. I teach plant based cooking classes in our home kitchen and lead tours of Merida's central market, Lucas de Galvez. Learning about the region's local foods has been my way of making Merida feel like home. I did a lot of traveling in college and stayed in hostels in Edinburgh, Athens, Amsterdam, Madrid, Dublin, Granada, and Munich, to name the most memorable. I have also stayed in the homes and on the lawns of very nice stangers, in my tent in bicycle campgrounds, in small hotels, and once in an Irish island hostel where I was the only guest. Every place I stayed was unique, some more enjoyable than others, and each a total adventure and special part of my travels. I am very happy to have the opportunity with Airbnb to give other travelers a comfortable, unique place to stay while traveling through Merida. Some other things I enjoy are bluegrass music, ice cream, reading, riding my bicycle, and zombie movies. I am also a mixed media artist and my art is copiously displayed throughout our house. Manny is a great futbol player, a talented cook, exceedingly charming, and a very engaging tour guide. He really enjoys cheesy sitcoms, the History channel and Animal Planet. He hasn't done as much traveling as I have, but he has a fantastic sense of adventure. He designed and oversaw the rebuilding of our house in Merida, and he is proud to open it up to Airbnb guests. Our kids both play soccer and practice taekwondo. They love wach and every guest, especially if you stop to play with them!
