It’s an excellent accommodation option for small families or couples who want to spend their days paddling down the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal or tasting wine in the local vineyard, and their evenings meeting locals in the cosy village pubs of Gilwern or enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace to the front of the house. Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a farmhouse style spacious kitchen/dining area. Whip up some dinner and gather your loved ones around the table to dine. After dinner, head out to the terrace at the front of the property to enjoy a glass of wine as the stars come out, or make your way up to the first-floor lounge to enjoy the view of the river from the Juliet balcony. Alternatively, open the French doors and take a seat on the rear terrace, or relax in the low slung seating area in the retro-style lounge and chill out in front of the TV, or bring along some vinyl to listen to on the record player. When it’s time for bed, you’ll find two comfortable bedrooms on the second-floor. Head to Goytre Wharf (8.5 miles) to hire a canal boat and spend a peaceful day sailing down the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. Alternatively, make your way into Abergavenny (4.5 miles) to shop at one of the weekly markets in the Victorian Market Hall. Or spend a wonderful afternoon at Sugar Loaf Vineyard (5 miles). Take a tour or just drop in for a tasting – either way the views of the Usk Valley are exquisite. Enjoy horse riding from one of the nearby trekking centres or bring along your bike and enjoy the newly renovated pump track in Gilwern.
