Staying with John and his partner was a God send! No other places were available and John went over and above to make room for us to stay so we didn't need to stay in a shared dorm room at a backpackers. His place was clean, comfortable, and cute. We had our own rooms and bathroom. John even made a delicious plum cake with plums from his garden that he shared with us. He also had amazing food recommendations! We really enjoyed and hugely appreciated our stay.

Great place to stay if you are okay with sharing the house with John and his partner. He was an awesome host with lots of useful information and just great to talk with about NZ in general as he has had many many great experiences throughout his life. The house was up on a bluff overlooking the nearby bay. Very well kept house, clean and tidy on the inside with a new looking bathroom. Comfy in every sense of the word. Nice to be outside Dunedin a ways to avoid the hustle and bustle, and it is right on the bus line between Port Chalmers and Dunedin making it very easy to get to without having to drive all the time. Would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone and would gladly return in the future.

We were in a bad situation having missed our Cruise due to a flight delay and having lost all of our baggage. So we needed to be by the port to pick up the Cruise and he drove us to the port to get us on the boat. He picked us up from the airport for a small fee and made our bad situation so much better! John was so kind and helpful and went out of his way on short notice to help us out, pick us up, drive us around, he even lent us his car and took us to a friends house who helped us out by selling us some consignment clothing she had for very cheap. John's house was very comfortable and the view from the bedroom was a beautiful view of the bay. He made us breakfast and was so helpful start to finish. It was a wonderful stay and John definitely went above and beyond for us. He is an EXCELLENT host and very interesting too!

John is a gentleman and scholar, a true class act who is very welcoming and a great host. He went out of his way, literally, to make our trip excellent. I will always have fond memories of the trip. Thank you John
