Denise's studio was very nice! Lots of room to relax. It was very clean and had nice amenities. Denise was very good at communicating. We highly recommend the studio located in a beautiful partof Vermont. Thank you, Denise. We appreciated your hospitality!
We loved Denise’s place! It was new and immaculately clean & tidy- which is always my top criteria! It was so cozy with the fireplace, fuzzy blankets and cushions, and super comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom and kitchen were well-equipped. Denise clearly put so much thought into the design and hospitality at her unit and it comes across! Couldn’t have picked a better airbnb to get snowed in in!
We enjoyed our stay. Denise's place is very clean and comfortable. Very accessible to Okemo.
The Historic Stone Village was built by Chester native born Scottish brothers Orison & Wiley Clark, using the "sneckled ashlar" technique. They built two walls, a thin wall of local quarry stone to give it a pretty face, but the structural came from another wall inside, made from rubble stone (or sometimes brick). To make this double sided wall solid, they bonded the inner and outer walls with stone ties they called "snecks" which were mortared into each wall. The total thickness of the resulting double wall varied from 12-18 inches. The glimmerstone was essentially veneer, and, in effect, presages modern curtain wall construction.
Our home was built in 1843 by the Clark brothers the only 2 1/2 story Federal style in our neighborhood, all other homes are 1 1/2 stories and Greek Revival style. The home was purchased in 1845 by James Johnson. Another fun fact is that Orrison Clark was injured by a cannon blast one fourth of July, con-valesced at James Johnson's and the nurse care bill as part of payment for the house.
