Hi I'm Dave. I grew up in Los Angeles. I graduated from CSU at Long Beach with an BS in Electrical Engineering. 3 months after graduation, I was assigned as a Field Service Engineer in Pakistan for 1 year. Other assignments included 2 years in Denmark, 2 years in Norway and 6 months on the island of Crete in Greece. I quit my engineering job and had one year off living in Bali and traveling extensively around South East Asia. Spent a little bit of time in Kenya and Seychelles. Ready to settle again, I moved to Fremantle, Australia and spent almost 3 years there as a consultant. I moved to Wanaka, New Zealand in October, 1997. Knowing that I wouldn't be able to use my engineering skills in a small mountain town, I decided to start my own business. So after months of meticulous planing and resource consents, I opened Wanaka's very first microbrewery on 16 September, 1998 which coincided with my 39th birthday. Our main beer Brewski became synonymous with the town of Wanaka. I sold the business just before Christmas of 2010. I stopped working for good in mid 2011, spending most of my time in Bali learning to surf. In 2016, I met the love of my life Gina from Mexico. We've been living in Mexico for 3 years: 2 in Ensenada and 1 year in Playa del Carmen. We both love to travel and have made trips to Ecuador, Columbia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Cuba. Recently, we did an 11 month trip which included 5 months of island hopping in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore. We traveled around New Zealand in a rented campervan which is an awesome way to explore NZ. Now we have moved to beautiful La Punta in Puerto Escondido. We have spent 18 months building our home in Mexico. We enjoy meeting travelers from all over the world and have opened our house on Airbnb . Gina and I both love to hike so we are glad to offer our guests any advice or suggestions. Bienvenido a Puerto!
