Surrounded by some of the best trout fishing rivers and lakes on the planet plus on the 'around the mountains cycle trail', this historic cottage C1892 has recently been virtually rebuilt for the 21st century comfort expectations. Within a one hours drive to Queenstown. Te Anau and Invercargill, situated in a semi rural setting while only a 5 minutes walk to the supermarket, pub, fish & chip shop, cafes as well as a fly fishing retailer. Make Ida Cottage your comfortable hub. The 2 large bedrooms 15m2 & 17m2 are well separated. The cottage has a covered carport at the rear and a native alpine garden. There are uninterrupted views of the distance mountains to the west and some spectacular sunsets. Also the western side deck at night provides wonderful star and planet viewing, often of Venus and Mars being on the dark side of the property.

I could tell from the time I booked Ida Cottage, Lumsden it was going to be a most enjoyable stay. Duncan was a great host and he communicated promptly in a most professional friendly way. Loved the liquid surprise in the fridge (the famous southern beer 'Speights') plus the Pinot Noir was a lovely drop - Thank you very much for that Duncan, a very thought gesture. If only I could take this accomodation with me wherever I trout fished in NZ. Best Lumsden accomodation + Best fishing guide in the South (Chris Dore) = a fantastic and memorable trip. I will certainly be back one day..!! Cheers ! Shaun
Our stay at Duncan’s place was fantastic! The accommodation provided all amenities we needed, and it was incredibly cosy upon arrival. The location was superb, offering access to both Queens town and Milford Sound. Plus, the privacy afforded was just what we were looking for. Highly recommend!
Probably the best Airbnb in Lumsden and surrounding area. This is a top-notch place to stay. You will be pleased with everything that is advertised. And host is kind, helpful, and knowledgeable.
