Located on the slopes of Hualalai at 1,560' elevation in the heart of the Kona Coffee belt, this cozy getaway offers a comfortable, cool, quiet, and affordable getaway on your Hawaiian stay. During the day, the vibrant colors of the tropical Hawaiian jungle come to life, and in the evenings, coqui frogs sing and feature a stunning view of the spiral arms of the Milky Way! We are a 15 minutes drive away from the airport, about 10-12 minutes away from Kailua-Kona, and 5 minutes from the nearest coffee shop and convenience store! (All times are driving distances, this location is more secluded, we highly recommend getting a rental car.) Access to the suite is via a private pathway from your roadside parking spot. With a comfortable Sun room living space that includes a kitchenette, equip with all you may need during your stay, a hot plate, microwave, rice maker, toaster, and most importantly, a coffee maker with some pods included. You can relax on the soft daybed situated by the large windows around the room, or sit at our dining/work table to enjoy the scenery as you work with our complimentary high-speed WiFi connection. The daybed also features a trundle underneath for kids or extra guests, and the daybed itself can also be converted into a sleep space for guests. To step it up (literally), the bedroom, separated from the Sun room by 2 French doors, features a luxurious king bed, nightstands with built-in wall and USB outlets easy access, a large mirror, and a drawers to provide the most comfort and ease during your stay. A few steps away is a shared bathroom, with locks on both sides of the doors for your security. This recently renovated bathroom features a beautiful marble shower in a serene and clean space, that also includes a bidet, open shelving, and large mirror. The rooms are completely private for your exclusive use, and the bathroom is shared with other residents. We hope you will find your stay with us to be most comfortable, and like a home away from home!
Lovely decorated apartment in the middle of the coffee plantations. Good place to explore this side of the island by car. We had no previous experience with a shared bathroom, but it worked very well & we had no contact/overlap with other users. Maianna was very kind and helpful.
My partner and I stayed for two nights and had a great experience. You will want a car to get around, parking at the place was easy as well as getting in out the private entrance. We did not cross paths with the host except on one occasion where we needed help and she was there within a minute. She responds quickly to questions via chat. Helpful guide book, clean, very comfortable firm bed. The bathroom is shared with a private entrance from your room and not once did we try and use it and it was occupied, so didn't even feel shared. Would definitely return.
Holualoa is a quiet artsy town and area, near many popular attractions, but conveniently tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Kailua-Kona.
Holualoa is best known for her Kona Coffee Heritage and exports, she has attracted artisans, musicians, craftspeople and characters, in large part because of fabulous weather, cool, comfortable sleeping conditions, lush vegetation and convenient location with views to the horizon.
In historic Holualoa town about 4 minutes away, you'll find many art galleries featuring traditional Hawaiian art styles and local artists, 2 coffee shops, and Paul's place convienience store. Not too much farther down the road is an excellent Mom & Pop Mexican lunch spot, Mi Taqueria Potosina!
Along the Mamalahoa Hwy. you are sure to find coffee farms offering Coffee tastings and samples!
I highly recommend getting a rental car! After 2-3 Uber trips, its going to be about the same price as a compact rental car for a day, and the public transportation on the Big Island is lacking.
Lyft & Uber are popular ride share options, and I've been told Lyft typically has more available drivers.
Public transportation is VERY limited. "Hele On", our Public (County of Hawai'i) Transportation is our only option and stops infrequently or by request at Palani Jct., 2.1 miles N. ($3.50 exact change only!)
Once you get down to Ali'i Drive there is a trolley that goes up and down the strip, and bicycle rental stations around town as well.
We are in a more rural area and I would not say there is anything to do within walking distance, but close by car!

Jacob and I live in the attached home with our cat and 2 roommates. Airbnb has played a major role in my life, my father ran a hostel when I was a teenager until Covid hit, and now I run my own Airbnb with my partner Jacob. Our airbnb was converted from my childhood bedroom, and we hope you will feel as comfy and cozy as I did! I've always lived in Hawaii, worked as a tour guide and park ranger, and am always happy to share my insights with you!
