Situated in Stirlings old town and a short walk to the Castle, The Jail, the HolyRude Church and other places of historical interest.The Smithy is also centrally placed for the town centre, bus and train stations. As the name suggests the building was a blacksmiths house and workshop during the 16th Century when King James VI was resident in Stirling. Prior to this it is said that the building was the Port Customs house in 1420. More recently the building was a public house for 160 years. Historic building on the north side of the Castle within the Old Town boundary. We are fully licenced by the Local Authority and are restricted to letting one double room for two persons only. The property is on multiple levels with two sets of wide stairs between floors so is not suitable for people with mobility issues. The house has an open plan format with the guest room on the 1st floor looking out over the frontage where there is roadside car parking. Parking is chargeable between 8.30am and 5.30pm.

I absolutely loved my stay at Colin and Vivian’s place! It was spotlessly clean, warm, beautifully decorated and it’s a really comfy bed! The breakfast was delicious and very generous. The gorgeous dogs, Midge and Doolie were there to greet me in the morning and when I came home after a day exploring amazing Stirling. I would love to come back with my hubby Doug one day. 😊
Ideal location for visiting Stirling. The home was beautifully finished and the room was perfect as well as the bathroom. The breakfast was 5 star restaurant quality. I was so impressed with everything. Thank you!!

Our house is situated in Stirlings old town in a Conservation Area.
We are a 15 minute walk (mostly uphill) from the train and bus stations. Taxis are usually available from opposite the train station.
Principal shops and restaurants are 5 - 10 minutes walk away.
Historic sites - castle, HolyRude church, old town Jail - are a few minutes walk away.

My wife and I have been in the hospitality business for 25 years and recently converted our cafe into a comfortable family home offering one en suite bedroom for bed and breakfast guests. Our house throughout the centuries has been housing (originally 2 houses); a blacksmiths; an Episcopalian school; a pub for at least 160 years and more recently our own licensed cafe. N.B. There are two friendly dogs who live here as well - Dooli & Midge.
