Our Black Forest house was built in 1868 and housed generations of a local family for over 150 years. For us, a dream came true with the purchase in 2022. With a lot of love and the help of local craftsmen, we have sustainably renovated the "Wolfshound Cottage". With a lot of love and the help of local craftsmen, we have sustainably renovated the *Wolfshound Cottage*. With the aim of combining modernity and tradition, we were able to refurbish the old wooden and plank floors, expose roof beams, install porcelain switches without sacrificing the comfort and safety of modern electrics and a sustainable heating system. Hand-plastered clay walls and oiled Douglasie floors also ensure a good indoor climate. The furnishings in the style of the Black Forest with parlour, living room and country kitchen invite you to relax, feel good and linger. Whether with a glass of wine from the Alde Gott wine cooperative 10 minutes away, a good whiskey or schnapps from the nearby Scheibel distillery or a hearty beer from the Bauhöfer brewery, you can end the day comfortably and in peace with friends in our parlour or in the living room on the restored sofa from the turn of the century with a good book or film. Our house offers spacious accommodation for up to 4 adults. The sleeping possibilities can be combined well with a double bed and two single beds, which can function as a double bed. A mattress for a child or teenager and an additional travel cot can be provided in the large room upstairs.

I had a great, got luck with the weather and would come again! Heike and Marc are really nice and there are great hiking opportunities. Just a note, the ceilings are rather low, not ideal for tall people, but otherwise very beautiful place.
Wir hatten ein schönes Wochenende in dem Cottage von Heike und Marc. Die Wohnung ist sehr schön und liebevoll eingerichtet und es war auch alles an Utensilien zum Kochen vorhanden. Die Umgebung lädt sehr zum Wandern ein und bietet spektakuläre Aussichten.
Sehr schöne und durchdacht eingerichtete Ferienwohnung. Das große Zimmer im Obergeschoss war perfekt für die Kinder. Die tolle Aussicht und die ruhige Lage waren perfekt zum entspannen und um direkt mit dem Hund in den Schwarzwald zu spazieren.
Marc was wonderful and so very helpful during our stay. Check in was simple. The house was very cozy. Everything was clean. While we were already there to hike the Karlsruher Grat, we were given great recommendations on other things to do in the area. We brought our small dog with us and he was welcomed right at home. I would absolutely stay here again.

Ottenhoefen in the Black Forest is nestled between the lovely hills of the Ortenau in the Baden wine country and the powerful forests of the Black Forest.
With its own railway station, Ottenhoefen has a regular train connection to Achern or Offenburg. From its stations Strasbourg, Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden, Buehl, Gegenbach, Triberg and many towns in the southern Black Forest are well connected.
Ottenhoefen in the Black Forest is a community with handicrafts, retail trade and a diverse club life. The village has a butcher, two bakeries, a country market, a greengrocer's, two hairdressers, doctors, two petrol stations, a Volksbank and a Sparkasse, and thus offers the opportunity to do one's daily shopping within walking distance.
The year-round festivals and concerts in the spa gardens around the village fountain invite locals and holidaymakers to get together and celebrate. Whether summer festival, spring concert, carnival procession or Christmas market - entertainment is always provided.
For lovers of culinary delights, Ottenhoefen and nearby Kappelrodeck or Sasbachwalden also offer a wide selection of restaurants of various levels. From farmhouse feasts, country cuisine or upscale cuisine, there is something to suit every occasion. All restaurants and inns in Ottenhoefen are within easy walking distance.
Our cottage offers an ideal starting point for both culinary friends and hikers.
The Alde Gott wine cooperative, the Scheibel distillery and the Bauhöfer brewery are 10 minutes away by car. Further excursions to the wine regions of the Ortenau are easily accessible on foot or by car and train.
In the village, but also in the surrounding area, there are numerous places to stop for refreshments and gastronomic offers for every taste and budget.
The Karlruher Grat, the Sohlberg or the Ottenhöfener Mühlenwanderweg are just three examples of numerous hiking tours starting from the house.
From the end of May to the beginning of September, the natural adventure pool, which can be reached on foot, not only offers children a lot of fun, but adults will also get their money's worth.
Tobogganing in winter on the Sohlberg or skiing and snowboarding in the nearby skiing areas around the Hornisgrinde and Ruhestein are just as much an experience as a beautiful snow hike.
The nearby Alsace opens up French flair and shopping opportunities for our guests. Strasbourg, Colmar or the pitoresque Riquewihr can be reached within 40 - 90 minutes.
