A peaceful rural rustic space to retreat and relax yet minutes from town amenities and the main Northland route. Nestled in the grounds of a 9 acre property half-way along a country cul-de-sac the cottage is a converted mid-century milking shed made cosy, comfy and self-contained, characterised by quirky charm and surrounded by gardens and birdsong. Easy access, no check-in required. The cottage consists of a roomy main studio area with queen bed, dining and kitchen area and wood fueled firebox. A few steps take you up into the cosy mezzanine lounge area with a sofa, armchair and large daybed. The TV and DVD player and DVD library are here along with a full bookcase. The separate bathroom with shower, vanity unit and hot water cupboard is off the main area as is a separate toilet room with hand basin. The second room (the Deck room) also off the main area contains an armchair, rocking chair, another full bookcase, a fold down desk and a sofa which can be converted to a double sofa bed. It can be used as required as a second bedroom, children's bedroom and play area (it is visible via an internal window above the kitchen sink in the main area), an office or a place to retreat and relax. The Deck room opens up onto the deck and patio via bifold doors. A stable door in the main area also opens onto the deck and patio area for outdoor eating and the BBQ. Beyond the patio area is a garden with further table and seating options. The garden is fenced with gates to access rest of the property. We have indicated that the cottage can be for 2 people, using the queen bed in main area. We do keep the double sofa bed in the Deck Room made up, ready to pull out for occasions like snoring emergencies, as there is nothing worse than having nowhere to go for a restful night when your bedmate won't stop snoring! There is a little rearrangement of furniture involved if you want to use it as a second bedroom, so if you need the two beds made up for a booking for two people please do let us know in advance so we may do the rearranging for you. The sofa bed obviously also adds flexibility for accommodating more than two guests. There is also the day bed in the mezzanine lounge area which folk have used as a single bed (best for a child), and we have a fold-out single bed which can either fit in the deck room or main area (also best for a child or small adult). So there are extra sleeping space options depending on your needs, just being aware that the bathroom and toilet rooms are off the main area and therefore shared by you all. The cottage is suited best to a couple, a family with two to three children, or a group of friends (two - four) who don't mind sharing spaces!
