Our time at the C&O Abode was truly magical. It offered a harmonious blend of tranquility and convenience, with ample opportunities for both relaxation and adventure. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home in this gem of a house, impeccably clean and filled with cozy charm. Our days were filled with adventure, exploring the nearby woods and charming towns and an alpaca farm! Traveling with toddlers can be challenging, but the C&O Abode made it effortless! The ground-level bunk bed bottoms were a hit with our little ones, and they were thrilled with the toys, books, and kid-friendly dishware. Meanwhile, we appreciated having all the necessary gear onsite to ensure their safety. Once the kids were tucked in, we indulged in the outdoor delights around the fire pit, roasting s'mores and enjoying a drink or two. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploration. We're already looking forward to our next visit and the chance to create more memories at this wonderful retreat.

The C&O Abode is a treasurer. The house was so clean and comfortable. We love to cook so we appreciated a kitchen that is fully stocked with good equipment; sharp knives, strong pots and pans, plenty of bowls and plates. We spent our time there visiting Harper’s Ferry, Shepardstown and exploring the woods around the house. Mid April presented the most beautiful weather for us. Cool and sunny. It was fantastic for strolling through shops and enjoying a meal outdoors. We can highly recommend Blue Moon Cafe in Shepardtown. At night, we sat outside around the firepit and talked late into the night. Some reviews from the family: Husband: Best thing about the cabin was the fire pit. 9 year-old Daughter: Best thing about the cabin was seeing lots of deer. Me: Best thing about the cabin was the beautiful kitchen.

Amazing stay! The Abode surpassed all of our expectations. It had everything we needed -- and so many things we didn't realize we needed until we got there! The fire pit was a particular highlight for our kids. They loved building a fire and roasting marshmallows for s'mores.

We had a wonderful stay at the C&O Abode! Besides the obvious beautiful and chic decor, the setup was perfect for our group (two families, each with 2 kids). While the toys and games provided novel entertainment, the outdoor surroundings were the real hit - we loved watching the deer pass by in the morning and allowing our "city kids" to explore nature at their own pace and space! The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed for a couple of meals at the house. We also appreciated all of the baby gear that was provided, as we were traveling with an infant, and didn't have to worry about if we forgot anything (the sound machines were fantastic!). Check-in was very smooth and our hosts provided great communication throughout our stay. All in all, I would definitely recommend the C&O Abode to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in the woods.
