Wake up to birdsongs and relish the river view from the spacious front porch! Nestled above the serene Shenandoah riverside, our retreat presents a one-of-a-kind living experience. Featuring two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, we offer convenience, comfort, and awe-inspiring water vistas that grace both the bedrooms and the living room. For your convenience, the availability of the washer and dryer is considered on a case-by-case basis, dependent on the length of your stay. Our well-appointed kitchen is a haven for culinary enthusiasts, boasting an array of essentials that cater to your every need. From a modern cooktop and oven to a microwave, a full-size refrigerator with a freezer, and a well-stocked pantry, we've got your culinary adventures covered. (Feel free to request our kitchen stock list for a detailed inventory.) As you explore our haven, you'll be greeted by the rich, distinctive hardwood floors that adorn the entire space. We kindly ask that you take care not to place wet items on them. Meanwhile, the bathrooms are adorned with elegant tile flooring, adding to the overall charm. With its cozy 864 square feet, our retreat is designed for intimate indoor dining around the island, while the option of alfresco dining awaits you on the front porch, where you can savor the weather's blessings. The living room, with its vaulted ceilings, offers a spacious, airy ambiance and features a comfortable four-seater sofa for relaxation. Slumber peacefully in either a luxurious king-sized bed or a comfortable queen-sized bed in the bedrooms. Our expansive front porch beckons you to unwind and take in the stunning river views, complete with sightings of bald eagles, herons, wild geese, and wild turkeys on the neighboring farm across the river. The porch is thoughtfully furnished with a dining table, four stools, a couch, and two chairs, providing the perfect setting for game nights, outdoor meals, or simply unwinding with a good book or three. The generous front yard shares its boundary with a public boat ramp, ideal for launching a kayak or tube. It's worth noting that, in keeping with the local tradition, neighboring riverfront properties occasionally come to camp on their properties, so you may hear some festive tunes every now and again or during holiday weekends.
Beautiful place! Loved sitting on the porch or around the fire pit to watch the river. So easy to find and not far from wineries etc. Spotless clean … comfortable couch and beds. Well maintained - like new!! Would definitely return.
Our stay was very comfortable. My only down side would be if someone has a problem with stairs because it is a lot of steep steps to get to the entrance. I loved the quiet and loved watching and hearing the turkeys every evening. It is about a 20 minute drive into down if you go to restaurants. Found a lot of places to eat in town. Worth the drive. We played lazy and didn't do much cooking, Breakfast and a few lunches.
The place looked just like it did in the pictures. The house was very beautiful and clean. Loved the surroundings with the lake being right there and the mountains. Would definitely stay again. The hosts were very nice and responsive.
Ukiyo River House provided a peaceful and stunning retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. My husband, our 5-month-old daughter, and I felt incredibly comfortable in this immaculately clean and well-decorated house. My husband particularly enjoyed the abundance of fishing gear that was readily available on the property. We would love to revisit this tranquil riverfront home in the future.
There are only a few houses on our road. The county won’t allow anymore homes to be built on the waterfront lots. So the owners of the raw lots use the land for camping. You’ll see locals having bonfires, tent camping and RV camping. Camping/RV parking permits are required with the county, so you can’t do it at our Ukiyo without permission. It’s a quiet street typically unless it’s a holiday week or weekend you may hear some music and see more people at the boat ramp. The county does not allow open wood fires for new Airbnb permits therefore we have a propane fire pit. Please no wood burning bonfires on our lot as it is unfortunately forbidden by the county.
We have a long gravel driveway that has a turnaround spot closer to the house. The main road is maintained by the county.
