This was such a quiet, peaceful place! Right from the start, Joanna was so prompt and friendly with communication. We enjoyed our beach time body boarding and snorkeling in the creek that floated into the ocean. We couldn’t believe the fish we saw! We came with our elderly dog, who loved the sights and smells in the beautiful backyard that is fully fenced. Aptly named “Birdsong”, we loved lazing about on the couches under the veranda. In the house itself, Joanna has thought of everything. The bedroom ensuites are sourced with delightfully aromatic toiletries and even candles and bath salts for the bath. A tasty selection of breakfast items were provided including muesli, sour dough, butter, milk, eggs, honey, marmalade, yoghurt, raspberries and fresh oranges. Joanna even organised a complimentary coffee from the local coffee truck. The house has everything you need-books, games, beach towels, beach chairs. We had a blissful time and would definitely recommend Joanna’s Birdsong on Bay.

My son and I weee in a road trip to the Gold Coast and decided to stop off at Hat Head as it was about half way. I am so glad we decided to stay for two nights. What a great find. Joanna is so friendly and helpful. She had left some milk, bread, eggs, butter, jam and honey for us. The house is beautifully decorated, with a sense of calm mixed with a beach vibe. (The photos don’t really do it justice) There are lots of little touches that make it feel so welcoming like a home away from home. Joanna has thought of everything, even down to bath salts and a candle for the lovely bath. Hat Head is stunning. The beach is literally across the road. It is a great place for dogs too and we definitely plan to return and stay longer with our furry friends. I would highly recommend Joanna’s place to anyone looking to unwind and relax.

Birdsong on Bay is a superb house, with everything you need for a wonderful Hat Head holiday. The Chill vibe of the place embodies everything we love about Hat Head, and Jo has thought of EVERYTHING to make our stay, comfortable and perfect. The kids loved the wildlife, as, true to its name, there are native birds a plenty in the tranquil yard. Directly across the road from the beach access and a short walk to a stellar grocery and produce store, it is perfectly positioned to park the car and stroll. It will surely be the 'place to stay' in Hat Head! We loved every minute of it and cannot wait to be back soon.

Hat Head is a magical place. Swimming, snorkelling and beautiful walks are all within walking distance. It’s a place where you can trully relax. The host Joanna was more than amazing. 🤩 The communication with her was excellent and she went out of her way (by miles and miles) to accommodate us. We’re forever grateful for our wonderful stay. Thanks again Joanna!
