This peaceful centrally located character cottage is quiet and self-contained with off-street parking for one car. Ideally suited for a couple, two adults or two couples. Main bedroom (queen); second bedroom with double Twinkl mattress and desk, it's 3 minute drive to Golf Course, 7 minutes to the Ocean Beach. Walk to Museum & The Daring in 4 minutes. Community Park & New World nearby. The Mangawhai Tavern on the estuary and its Saturday morning market are a short drive. Minimum 2 night stay The School House is a heritage building transported from Kawakawa Bay to the site in 2006. It now has modern French doors, original tawa whitewashed floors, kitchenette with electric plug in elements, large electric frypan, microwave, small heating oven, BBQ and bedrooms and living space as in photos. School house deck is screened off, and on-site host in adjoining house does not use her side of the front deck except to water plants. The co-host house has outdoor sitting areas at the rear and side so the School House deck is fully available to guests with no need to tiptoe. An art craft and gardening studio on the property is opposite the School House and not used while guests are in residence.

The cottage is small but perfectly formed and Shaz was very helpful. We appreciated the little touches she left in the kitchen :)
We really enjoyed our stay. The two Queen size bedrooms were ideal for two girlfriends having weekend away. The lounge area was comfortable and sunny. The kitchen facilities had all you need for weekend away. Shaz was lovely & friendly. Location was perfect base for our Mangawhai exploration. We will be back!

This is a quiet neighbourhood in a no-exit road, bordering a farm at the rear.
It is handy to walk or drive to the ocean beach, estuary, Museum, cinema, Tavern, shops and other amenities.
Mangawhai is a thriving, rapidly growing community. Cycle ways are increasing and several walking/cycling ways are in easy reach. There is no public transport. There is a bookable taxi - shuttle and information is in The School House. Car parking is relatively easy in most areas except the Heads Beach in the summer. During the summer there is a free bus which runs all day from the Domain to the Heads Beach and back on a loop, stopping at the Art Gallery, Museum and other places.

We love Mangawhai and all that it has to offer... it is refreshing and creative... easy to engage in sport and walks, the beach, and connect with art, artisans and gardeners, golfers and the many local attractions and businesses, and two Saturday morning markets.
