The Winery was great. The house was in the perfect location. On the whole, a great spot for our girl's trip.
It was a delight to stay in this spacious home encircled by ponderosa pines, right next to SD's most popular winery per TripAdvisor, which makes it a one-of-a-kind find in South Dakota. The interior spaces are light, airy, with a bit of chic-meets-the-Black Hills style. My family and friends made a day of it - we started with lunch at Prairie Berry's kitchen. We ordered the Roasted Turkey Sandwich - it had a flavor twist loved by the grown ups, and got surprisingly glowing reviews by my two meat-and-potatoes step-sons. We walked down to the brewery, played games and laughed our guts out, and then ended with a wine tasting, given to us by a friendly knowledgeable gal who fit the tasting to our quirky personalities. On our way to exploring the hills the next morning, we stopped at the quaint General Store to grab some off-the-beaten-path snacks for the road. Both a great destination and launching pad. I recommend giving it a shot if you're looking for a novel experience in SD.
This place has nice large spaces for cooking together and mealtimes. We had everything we needed; a grill too! The hosts were responsive and coordinated the planning well. Everyone enjoyed the good food, tastings, local hikes, and playing on the lawn. This was the perfect jumping off point for all our adventures.
We had so much fun in the hills! Staying at the winery was such a fabulous experience. I highly recommend this place! It’s a fully equipped house with 4 large bedrooms. The master has a king bed with double shower, Jacuzzi tub and double sinks. There’s a nice deck that was perfect to relax with a glass of wine surrounded by trees and a view of the mountain. Also a great place to lie back and watch the stars. The winery and brewery are a short walk from the house and the free wine tasting was such a treat. There’s a nice assortment of craft beers as well. Food is available at the winery and they had live music outdoors where the kids could play. The general store has ice cream & Prairie Berry Jelly Bellys! We spent some time in Deadwood where there’s plenty to see and do. It’s an easy drive to the monuments, and you can’t miss the Purple Palace Pie shop in Custer, buffalo burger at Chutes in Hill City and the Lotus in Lead- coffee & yummy Monte Cristo sandwich & beautiful view
