Room 12 ~ The Madison Guest Room has 2 queen beds and a full bathroom. This room is located up the main staircase on the 3rd floor. This room is named for the 4th president of the United States. James Madison was one of the presidents born in Virginia. Please note: The Wayside Inn does not have an elevator. Check-in time begins at 3 pm, check-out time is at 11 am. The rooms of the Inn are decorated in 19th-century antiques, giving the warm look of days gone by. Each bedroom is different from the next in furnishings and layout.

The place is so beautiful, with a lot of history! The staff were so nice and friendly. The food at the tavern was delicious and affordable. The host communicated often, so friendly too! We would definitely be back! 😊

Welcome to Middletown, VA, started as a 17th-century Fairfax Grant as settlements sprang up along the Valley Pike.
We have history to offer: the Historic Belle Grove Plantation and Cedar Creek Battlefield and museum. On the more modern side, the town offers Fair Oaks Drive-In Movie Theater, restaurants, and other retail amenity spots. Middletown is 15 minutes from Winchester's walking mall, 20 minutes to Front Royal, 10 minutes to Strasberg and Stephens City—a perfect central location to see many local attractions and townlets.
The Wayside Inn offers off-street parking in our large parking lot on the North side of the Inn and on-street parking directly in front of the Inn, if you have a lot to unload or need the fastest entry to the front desk.
