Sleeping four across two quirky bedrooms with space for up to three pups to snooze, this converted barn is a fantastic bolthole to return to after a long day out in the countryside. Go for walkies up Pendle Hill (4 miles), taking in amazing views of Blackpool and Yorkshire, before heading to the dog-friendly restaurant less than a mile from your front door for a hearty meal. The holiday home, which sits at the end of an unmade track, is spacious and welcoming. Throw open the double doors in the lounge to let in some fresh countryside air, relaxing among vaulted ceilings and wood beams. Let children and dogs unleash it all in the enclosed garden, or ease aching muscles in the hot tub with a drink when they’ve gone to bed! Cook up a storm in the huge contemporary kitchen and enjoy a sociable meal. Choose one of the unique bedrooms when it’s time to sleep; each has sumptuous furniture that creates a peaceful haven to slumber in. Pull on your walking boots and visit the Forest of Bowland; a circular 3.7-mile walk that starts at Langden Brook (21 miles) and takes you to Langden ‘Castle’ with views of the valley is popular with dog walkers. Kids will love the self-guided Pendle Witches Mystery Treasure Trail that starts at the Pendle Heritage Centre in Barrowford (4 miles), while Townley Park (5 miles) has sculpture trails, play areas and ornamental gardens for the entire family to enjoy. In the Yorkshire Dales, Malham Cove (24 miles) has spectacular views and is well worth the climb up to the cliff face.
