Family-friendly historic home that is walkable to downtown. With 3 upstairs BRs and 3 full BAs (2 up, 1 main), The Winneshiek House sleeps 9 people in 2 king and 5 twin beds. Little ones are welcomed by a standard crib and kids will enjoy the upstairs lounge and secret reading nook. Enjoy the open living and dining areas, 3-season porch and patio with fire pit and grill (available seasonally). Detached garage available for a vehicle, bikes or kayaks. EV charging and grocery are 1/2 block away. The Winneshiek House celebrates the good life that is lived in Decorah and beyond. Whether this is your first trip or you’re coming home, we hope that this space inspires you to take in all the best that the Driftless Region has to offer. Please note that all bedrooms are on the second floor and the space is not appropriate for those with difficulty navigating stairs. The garage, though simple and uninsulated, is available for single-vehicle parking or secure storage of bikes, kayaks or canoes. Exterior maintenance projects are intermittently scheduled for 2024 (new paint, new landscaping and concrete repair!). While we endeavor to schedule these projects to minimize any impact to guests, there may be minor residual effects. We’re happy to offer suggestions of what to see or do, where to dine, trails to explore or how to navigate the beautiful waters of the Upper Iowa River.

We've stayed in a lot of rental homes, and this was by far the most beautiful home for our family! We were traveling with small children, ages 1 and 3. The home was equipped with a crib, bunk beds, toys, a reading nook (full of children's books), night lights, and a step stool in the bathroom. The location was perfect as well. There was a grocery store a block away, as well as many restaurants within walking distance. We will definitely stay at the Winneshiek House again!
What a wonderful house for our Girl's Weekend getaway! Plenty of bed space, very comfortable pillows and bedding, lots of seating options and fully stocked EVERYTHING! It was the little details I truly appreciated. Floss, lots of toilet paper, coffee (K-Cups too!), washer dryer, outside furniture, fire pit, sound machines in every bedroom (kept the laughing noise downstairs to a minimum late at night).... We also loved the location. Walkable to everything downtown, restaurants, bars, shops. Just around the corner from the grocery store. Betsy was very responsive, flexible on check-in, clear instructions and fair rules. Highly recommend for your next family or friend visit to Decorah. Thank you!
Such a fantastic home. Large living room for gathering for a decent sized group to fit comfortably. The house is charming and the rooms are open and bedrooms are spacious. This would be a great option for traveling with kids as the house was loaded with kid-friendly items. The location is top notch, in downtown Decorah, so we we able to walk easily to Downtown establishments. Overall it’s a fantastic home that makes for a wonderful getaway!
This house was fantastic! A perfect location… walking distance to downtown. It was clean and spacious with absolutely everything we needed. The fresh baked goods and wine was such a kind touch. Betsy was a perfect host… easy communications, quick responses and great recommendations. This house is perfect for a weekend get-away or for a long vacation stay. My daughter is a student at Luther college, and it was a perfect location to go back and forth to the college. I hope to get to stay at Betsy’s again the next time I’m in Decorah. I highly recommend this Airbnb!

The Winneshiek House was built in 1890 and is in the Original Decorah neighborhood. A short walk takes you to the beautiful downtown area including Mabe’s Pizza (4 minutes), Rubaiyat Restaurant (5 minutes), Mary Christopher Park and Playground (4 minutes), Vesterheim Museum (11 minutes) and Nordic Fest Ceremonies at the Winneshiek County Courthouse (6 minutes). Multiple access points to the Trout Run Trail are 1/2 mile or less away. Fareway Grocery and electrical vehicle charging are an easy 1 minute walk (1/2 block) away.
Like most of Decorah, the neighborhood is friendly and quiet. Sidewalks make pedestrian access easy.
Parking is available in a detached garage accessed from the alley or on the street in front of the house.
