Camping in Uvi House site was an incredible experience! The campsite is clean and perfect for both short and long stays. The owner of the place and the staff are super friendly and helped us with the ideas for further hiking in the area. Oh, and the food was incredible! Definitely we’ll be back soon
A fantastic setting. the pictures don't do justice to the location and the view. The view from the balcony is so beautiful. I found all the staff great. felt at home from the beginning.....

We are located in the Western Usambara Mountains chain in the Northern Tanzania, East Africa. Elevated at 1900 m above the sea level our Cliff offers a Nature immersion experience. Surrounded by tall Eucalyptus trees Uvi House rests spectacularly overlooking the Masai Step and Pare Mountains. With good weather conditions Kilimanjaro can be spotted as well above the clouds. Usambaras are also home to the Shagayu Cloud Forest where Black&White Colubus monkeys live. Our trees are full of chameleons and birds including some endemic species. Hills are covered with small villages and your stay will give you a unique insight into Tanzanian rural life.
We mostly recommend moving around on foot as it’s a great exploring opportunity. However if tired from a hike, there are local Moto taxis (called BodaBoda or PikiPiki) that you can use. Around Mambo prices varies between 2000 and 5000 TZS. We can also give you a ride by car to any hiking destination ($15 up to 7km).

After a master degree in Arabic & Islamic studies, 9 years of living in Morocco my path was finally found in the small village of Mambo in Tanzania. Along with our guest house Uvi House & Restaurant we support the education in the area with our sponsorship and tutoring program for over 300 kids via Uvi Foundation for Education. We try to show the uniqueness of the area without compromising the integrity of the community.
