The loft is one of 9 houses in Calamo Uno, a project of sustainable luxury living. The main characteristics of the houses are the wide open spaces, the combination of concrete, wood and bamboo, and the handmade furniture - which makes them so unique. It’s a perfect quiet oasis to connect with nature, relax, recharge.

goodness...where to begin. what an incredibly beautiful home and lovely little community. the jungle loft is a part of a small group of similarly built, modern and minimalistic homes about a 10-15 minute walk from the heart of Ayampe and the Pacific Ocean and about a 2 minute walk from fruit stands and some local's restaurants. the design of the home is thoughtful and intentional...the pictures reflect her beauty accurately. while there is AC, for me the brilliant touch were a system of cross-breeze inducing screen doors on both levels that keep the home comfortable w/o the need to run the AC our hosts were incredibly helpful with everything from helping arrange transportation to a whole list of local recommendations on restaurants, grocery, activities. Ayampe is an ideal spot for tranquility and reconnecting with nature and our stay in the loft was the ideal spot for Ayampe. I look forward to returning again next winter.
If I could score each section higher, I would. The place was amazing. The nature around was so relaxing. It was rainy when I went (which was perfect for me)...but it mase walking to town impossible due to getting up the hill needed to get out of the place. There was a great small fireplace heater that was perfect for warming up my feet (I get cold easily). The hot water wasn't hot enough, I made a simple comment and turned up the temperature from the main stop. Everything was perfect here and I will be coming back. Thank you.

You will love waking up with only the singing of the birds (which is sometimes difficult to find in Ecuadorian towns), sitting in front of the big windows observing the hummingbirds in the lush blooming garden & listening to the jungle sounds after sunset, when the fireflies come out… Calamo Uno lies on the foot of a hill where the jungle begins. It is just a stone throw (12 min walk) away from the beach and Ayampe town with a great gastronomic variety to explore and artesanal products for shopping. The community in Calamo Uno is very special – as we all became friends and love to share coffee & dinners, or help each other out with whatever needs! The project is almost finished, social areas for BBQ and Yoga and the parking lots are soon to come (there is already parking space, only roofing still missing).
To get to Ayampe you fly to Ecuador, Guayaquil or Manta. From there, it is a 2-3 hour ride by bus or car. For longer stays, it's a good idea to rent a bicycle to get quick town (5 min), otherwise, it's easy to walk (12 min) or drive (2 min). But Ayampe is small and easy and fun to move around walking! If you don't have your own car there is plenty of taxis. If you would like us to pick you up from the airport, please get in contact via DM.
