MOULIN DE MALECOSTE can be found on the D100, a country road running between the villages of Cazillac and Sarrazac in a rural setting. The House stands alone ands is surrounded by woods, pastures and walnut groves, the nearest neighbours barely visible through the trees, which allows for peace and privacy.
PLEASE NOTE: We wish to draw your attention to the fact that unfortunately our gite/apartment/cottage is NOT suitable for guests with reduced mobility and does not have wheelchair accessibility due to exterior stone stairs and interior staircases.

The Moulin is situated in the northern part of Lot, offering easy access to the departments of Correze and Dordogne. The beautiful surrounding countryside ideal to be explored by car, bicycle or on foot.

The villages of Sarrazac, L’Hopital St Jean, Les Quatres Routes, Cressensac and Meyssac (all within a 6 – 8 Km radius) have well stocked supermarkets, butchers, bakers, pharmacies, hairdressers, cafes and bars. The larger town of Brive-la-Gaillarde is about 20 minutes away, its weekly (Saturday) food market, famous throughout France.

The magnificent Dordogne river is a 15-minute drive from the mill, a great spot for a picnic, swimming and canoeing which is an alternativel way in which to view the unspoiled scenery, villiages and castles along the river.

This area is famous for its gastronomical excellence and regional cuisine, characterised by duck, goose, foie gras, truffles walnuts and walnut oil as well as the food and brocante markets held in surrounding villages. It is equally popular for its wines which are produced in vineyards around Cahors.

Many activities are available within 30 minutes’ drive from the Moulin.

There are three golf courses in the area, fishing in many surrounding rivers, horse-riding, cave visits, tennis, hiking, cycling as well as water sports available at the Lac du Causse.

It is essential to have a car as there is no public transport close to the Moulin once one has arrived in the area ..............

BY TRAIN

Brive-La-Gaillarde (30 Kms) is the largest railway station near Le Moulin. It is a 4 hour journey from Paris, Austerlitz station on the Toulouse line.
From London on the Eurostar it would take approximately 8 – 9 hours via Paris with a change from Gare du Nord to Austerlitz stations.

Le Moulin is situated off the A20 motorway which runs north to south from Paris to the Mediterranean coast. (4 hours south of Paris, 2 hours east of Bordeaux)
