Except during the summer, the canoe and kayaks are stored at the home, not at a lake; guests would need to transport them to the water to use them DETAILED DESCRIPTION The Happy Hammock is a bright, spacious, light-filled, lofted (but still cozy) house in a Zen-like hidden treasure of a wooded neighborhood. The Happy Hammock is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom chalet with a cabin feel. It’s nestled in a private, quiet little wooded oasis, where deer of all sizes and genders often wander through. We’ve also seen packs wild turkeys and once even a small pack of bears (Mama and 3 cubs). More on the bears topic later in this guide! The closest beach (at Locust Lake) is a peaceful 5ish-minute walk, 2-minute bike ride, or 1-minute drive from the house. The Locust Lake Village (LLV) community also has three other small lakes that are easy to get to and enjoy. Both in LLV and in the surrounding areas, there is also terrific access to almost everything you can dream of for an ideal vacation. The Happy Hammock has an “open-concept” living area, which contributes to the light and bright, open, free-flowing but still cozy feel of the house. The kitchen is fully stocked with any kind of cookware or serving ware you could need. We provide some basic condiments (in the fridge), coffee (in the freezer), Keurig coffee pods, as well as oils and spices. The dining area is “classy casual”, with an elegant picnic-table-style table. The living room is a very comfortable hang-out space, with a fireplace and windows on three sides. In addition to a sofa and reclined chair, it has a super comfy, ginormous, round, swiveling lounging chair, perfect for chilling, and napping too! There’s also has a raised counter-style table that faces the beautiful backyard space, perfect for watching the kids play or spotting (other ) wildlife. The living room has a Netflix-equipped television, karaoke machine as well as a Wii player, which is a great way to get the body moving on a rainy day. Speaking of games, we have a chess board waiting for you on the coffee table (which opens, and incidentally this is where you will find cozy blankets!). We also have a “rec" closet in the living room with a number of different games and books. In this closet you also will find a yoga-meditation-exercise “kit” which includes: two yoga mats, blocks, some basic weights, a balance board (use this and everything else provided at your own risk) and two hand-sewn meditation pillows. There is a cozy, deliciously carpeted second-floor loft overlooking the living area. We want to keep the carpet “delicious” so we ask (beg?) you to please help by making this a shoes-off zone and by keeping food and drink to a minimum to reduce chances of spillage. The loft sports a Netflix-equipped television, a DVD player, and plenty of DVDs for viewers of all ages. This loungy loft area also a hanging egg chair. However, please don’t swing on this egg chair egg-sessively, and please… no rowdy behavior or unattended children in the loft area. Nobody wants tears or a trip to the E.R. on vacation! Two bedrooms and one full bathroom are also located on this second floor. (More on the bedrooms on the next page… Can you stand the suspense??? 😉) On the main level, adjacent to the dining area, there is a screened-in porch which provides a lovely, tranquil eating area with twinkle-optional string lights for enhanced ambiance! Be sure to look for deer while you eat! There are two non-screened porches on either side of the screened-in portion. One has additional seating and an electric (plug-in) grill. The other side has a standing hammock for super-easy access from the house. In the backyard, we have a firepit with six amazing chairs, two hammocks, and a large saucer-style swing! There’s also a shed which houses so many fun things! Such as… 1. Cornhole & Bocci-ball sets 2. Pickleball (4) and tennis (4) racquets (and balls) 3. Frisbee-golf-type frisbees 4. Sports equipment (football, basketball, soccer-ball, volleyball, giant Kickball) 5. Bicycles (2) & helmets (2) 6. Kayak & canoe paddles, and life jackets (4) 7. Sleds (4) 8. Ice-skates (of various sizes) & elbow/knee pads and helmets More details on the bedrooms: Bedroom #1: This main-level bedroom has one Queen-sized, super comfortable bed, a large dresser, mirror, and two nightstands. It faces the front of the house and the gravel road, a road so quiet that you will rarely see cars drive by. Your view from the bedroom windows? Just the quiet road, and … trees. Just trees! This bedroom is nestled in a private offshoot of the living area, next to the main-level bathroom. This room does not have a television. Bedroom #2: This beautiful second-floor bedroom has one very comfortable Queen-sized bed, a dresser and nightstand, and Netflix-equipped TV and (Note: the light-switch must be in the up-position for the TV to turn on). This room also houses the dedicated desk/workspace area (with an iPad stand and power-strip for easy connections). This room has a USB port on the nightstand lamp for easy charging of cell phones and other devices. It also has a Disney-brand “Pack-and-Play” for infants (stored in the closet) and a Queen-sized extra mattress topper (stored under the bed) for those who desire a super-soft mattress or in case there is a need for extra sleeping arrangements. (For example, this is helpful for parents who want to use this bedroom and whose children want to sleep in the same room as them.) This room is convenient to the second-floor bathroom, the loungey loft area, and the bunk room and faces West, overlooking the super serene backyard space. Bedroom #3 (The Bunk Room): The bunk room is a fun space, technically sleeping up to six people. There are two bunk beds, both of which have a single/twin-sized mattress on the upper level, and both of which have a full-sized mattress on the lower level. One lower level bed easily converts to a sofa. (In fact, unless you’ve given us prior instructions to the contrary, when you arrive at the house you will find this lower bunk in “sofa position”, with a set of sheets provided.) This room also has a dresser in the closet, a Netflix-equipped TV, and a 4-in-1 mini-game table to keep the kids busy while you are taking a breath for yourself! This game table has mini-versions of pool, ping-pong, air-hockey, and football. Please note that this is not a full-sized billiards table, table-tennis table, or air-hockey table, however it is perfect for kids (and kids-at-heart) who just want to have some fun!
