Santo André is a quiet village, but it has many local attractions, most of which are located on the main street, Avenida Beira Rio (approximately 500 metres from Casa Papaya). There you'll find restaurants, bars and local handicrafts. Also close to the house are the village's two markets: Pombal and Paulo Maciel.
To get to the beach, you can 1. enter via the main access, which is where the beach huts are located 2. enter via the access next to the Gaivota restaurant. This access takes you to the mouth of the João de Tiba River. 3. If you wish, you can also go to the beach bars provided by the inns. These include Bar e Co (Colméia guesthouse), Pousada Araticum and Pousada Victor Hugo. Se quiser conhecer um pouco mais da região, você pode visitar a praia de Santo Antônio (que fica a 8km de Santo André) e ficar no restaurante Maroca ou na barraca da Jane. No vilarejo, fica também a maior estátua do Santo Antônio do mundo e o restaurante Sabores do Santuário, que funciona à noite. Passeando mais 4 km, adiante está a praia do Guaiu. Lá você poderá desfrutar da barraca da Miúda, da barraca do Elias ou barraca da Maria Nilza.
