RED SUBMARINE is an submarine- themed guesthouse which is directed by Honorary Captain MIKIO, who is an ex-submariner in JMSDF, worked for 40 yrs, boarded 7 of its submarine. In our guesthouse, you can enjoy an unique experience as if you were one of the crew members. We locates at 9-minute walk from Kure Station, right next to a shopping district in the downtown of Kure City, a perfect "BASE CAMP" for local food and sightseeing. What's more, guests can enjoy our public bath for free! This is a single/twin room with wooden flooring where you can take off your shoes and relax. Recommended for a personale with a lot of stuff, friends, couples, and those who need to sleep together with small children. we can clean up one bed and use it for one person.
KURE, a naval city once known as "the best military port in the East", is still the largest base for 12 out of 22 submarines of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). There is JMSDF KURE museum, where you can enter "a real Japanese submarine".
★Yamato Museum (12 minutes walk)
Along with a 1/10 scale model of the battleship Yamato on display, you can learn about the history of Kure, which flourished as Japan's number one naval arsenal town, through many photos, videos, and materials.
★JMSDF KURE Museum (13 minutes walk)
This is the only exhibition facility in Japan where you can see the inside of a submarine that was actually used by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
★Mt. Haigamine peak (30 minutes by car or taxi)
This is a must-see spot that was featured in the opening scene of Buratamori's ``Kure.'' You can see the topography of Kure, which is a good natural port. At an altitude of 737m, it is one of the three major night views of Chugoku and Shikoku.
★Alley Karasukojim (11 minutes by bus)
This is an amazing park where you can see up close the ships moored at the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's Kure base. It's fun to see what kind of ships you can see after you go.
★Former Kure Naval Base Government Building, 5 minutes by buzz
This is a representative brick structure still in existence in Kure City, which was used as the former Kure Naval District Office. Advance application is required for tours.
★Irifuneyama Memorial Museum (16 minutes walk)
This quaint Western-style building was the official residence of the commander-in-chief of the Kure Naval Base during the war. It is a facility where you can trace the history of Kure, such as a local museum and a history and folklore museum (early modern archives).
9 minutes walk from JR Kure Station. We are cloth to the Nakadori shopping street. Kuramoto street is where food stalls are popular. We have just one paid guest parking space (+1500 JPY). Advance reservations are required for use.
