Shankill · 民居里的独立房间 · 1室2床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Twin Room in Seaside Shankill
Welcome to our home! We are excited to share South Co. Dublin with you. Its fantastic public transportation will make your stay a great one with a 5 minute walk to DART (train) and buses into the city and airport. Shankill lies between the Dublin Mountains and the sea & we can recommend all the local amenities/sites. Your accommodation is within a modern, bright house with two twin guest rooms both with separate private bathrooms. We will provide breakfast each morning and 1 car parking space.
Loved my time here. Fiona was a great host and offered so much insight into her lovely city!
We live 5 minutes from Shankill village and about 12 minutes on foot from Shankill and Killiney beaches. We are also surrounded by various parks that run parallel to the beach and our home is nestled in the foothills of the Dublin mountains for those who like to hike.
Killiney Hill Park is very famous in Ireland and its views across the bay are just gorgeous. It overlooks Shankill as well as Dalkey Island and can be reached either on foot or by using public transport - we can give you directions to all these places.
We would also recommend a visit to Dun Laoghaire which is a larger town about 10 mins away. It has a beautiful pier walk, lots of pubs, and is known for its Victorian architecture and as a port for cruise ships. Our daughter runs a walking tour company which provides tours of Dun Laoghaire and the surrounding areas and we are more than happy to offer our guests a discount should you like a tour.
Dalkey deserves mention as one of the oldest towns in Ireland and a beautiful place to visit to explore the restaurants, island, and castles. Bray in nearby Co Wicklow boasts a Victorian promenade and a lively nightlife scene with a large range of pubs and restaurants. As mentioned below, we are of course close to Dublin city centre where you'll find a whole hosts of gems whether you're interested in history, sport, culture, music or nature.
Getting to our house from Dublin Airport:
Option 1 :-
Take a private coach from outside Terminal 1 or 2 to Shankill (the Aircoach). You will need to take the 702 coach from the Airport to Shankill and the stop you need to get out at is Shankill Village. There is a pub opposite the bus stop called Mickey Byrne’s. We can meet you at this bus stop if you like and it is a less than 10 minute walk from our house.
Please check the website for the timetable as this private service runs from 06:00 to 20:00 only on a 2 hourly basis. A one way ticket costs around €15 per person and a return ticket around €20 per person. You can purchase a ticket in advance on line or on the bus using card or cash payment. There is free wifi on the coach and the travel time varies from 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic. The Leap card is NOT accepted on this private coach.
Option 2 :-
Using your Leap card for all public transport journeys in Dublin, take a local Dublin public bus from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 (i.e. No 41 bus or No 16 bus) into the city centre and walk a short distance to Tara Street train station where you take a Bray/Greystones train (DART) to Shankill. The full journey takes approximately 1 hour 15 mins. Your Leap card will cover the cost of the bus and train. Both buses have space for luggage.
Option 3 :-
Take a taxi or Uber or our house (price is the same regardless of which method you use as Ubers in Ireland are standard metered taxis). The price will range from €50 to €75 depending on traffic/the time of day.
Getting around upon arrival at our home:
As mentioned above, we are a 5 minute walk from the train station (DART) and bus stops into the city. The train takes approximately 30 mins and buses take 25 to 45 mins depending on traffic.
Travel Card (known as a Leap card) is the best payment option. The Leap Visitor Card is a convenient public transport ticket for tourists and visitors to Dublin. Get unlimited travel for your selected time period on Dublin City Bus services, Luas (tram), and DART.
You can choose from a number of options:
1 day (24 hours) – €8.00
3 days (72 hours) – €16.00
7 days (168 hours) – €32.00
Your chosen time period starts from the first time you use the card.
The card can be purchased in Dublin Airport or in the city centre. If you plan to stay longer than 7 days you can also use a standard Leap card and top it up as needed. If so the average train trip costs approximately €4 and the bus costs €2.60 maximum per trip.
Upon arrival we will help you find the station and make sure you know which buses/trains to take. Most public transport runs from approximately 6 am until midnight, but if you plan to be out later than this there is a Nitelink bus which runs on weekends until 4 a.m. and stops outside our house, or of course you can always get a taxi.
For amenities in our local area (for example shops, pubs, and restaurants in Shankill) everything is within walking distance. We provide one car parking space free of charge if you are renting a car during your stay.
自我介绍
A frequent traveller and user of Airbnb myself so myself and family understand the importance of a friendly reception and a comfortable stay. I am retired but an active hiker and I enjoy regular use of a local gym. My husband is a keen tennis player and we are very happy to explain local amenities to you together with all the public transport available locally. The night bus stops outside our house.
