As you make your way to the entrance through a lamp-lit pathway, and a lantern-ridden tree in the middle greet you. Inside, rustic and woodsy decor with splashes of mosaic-painted walls, quirky wall art, and soft traditional rugs awaits. Keeping your comfort in mind, there are cushy private rooms and lively dorms to choose from. While the woodsy on-site restaurant takes care of your snacking needs, the vibrant and buzzing common room invites you to fun games and entertainment. Outside, a special bonfire area is perfect for all beginner and pro guitarists to put their musical magic on display. So make your way here for an unforgettable mountain escape with your best bunch. Recommended Experiences Explore Aru Valley, Chandanwari, and Betaab Valley. Trek to the Sheshnaag Lake. Hike to Baisaran Meadows. Visit the Pahalgam Market. Head to the Over-Aru Wildlife Sanctuary. Great place to meet with like minded people. The residents were extremely helpful with their advice once I got to speak with a few. I suggest you have a FB page, where such helpful advice can be shared and help other Zostelians to not get scammed by the taxi guys and help with local sight seeing suggestions.
Zostel Pahalgam has been the most beautiful zostel property I’ve been to till date. The pastel furnishings, Kashmiri carpets and tapestries on the walls and the detailing was top notch. The view from our room was breathtaking. However, the food they served was prepared with little to no efforts. The coffee that I ordered was plain milk and remained the same even after putting additional coffee. As if the coffee powder was fake. The poha tasted burnt and mushroom masala was pure boiled mushrooms in a tangy tomato purée. We had to have the chapati with pickle and sleep partially hungry. About the location- they say that you get shared local taxis from outside but we got none. We had to hitchhike once to go to the main Pahalgam town and pay a hefty amount to come back at 10PM in the night. ₹1000 for just 10kms. I wish the transportation was better. It’s situated far off amongst the jungle and there’s nothing much to do around.
The stay at Zostel was really nice. We had booked a private room, it was cozy with a bathroom and 2 balconies. We loved our stay there and highly recommend it!

From Bijbehara Bus Stop: (28 km; 50 min): Take a shared cab to Dehwathu (Pahalgam) and get off at Zostel Pahalgam for ~70 INR.
From Jammu Tawi Railway Station: (228 km; 6 hr): Take a direct cab to Zostel Pahalgam for ~6000 INR.
From Srinagar Airport: (76 km; 2 hr): Take a direct cab to Zostel Pahalgam for ~3500 INR per person.
