I stayed at Julia’s house for two days and it was such a lovely experience! The check in experience was hassle free and simple. When we got to our room, Julia had a coffee machine + kettle all ready for us. All the necessary amenities were provided to us, we didn’t have to ask her for anything. The room itself was so cute and quirky with random trinkets and fun paintings. The location was ideal - 15 minute walk to the high street and Rochester castle And the cherry on top was that there was a lota (wash jug) in the washroom!!!!!! lol that me feel right at home. Will definitely book her place if i visit rochester again
We had a great stay with Julia, her house has a lot of character and is beautifully furnished. We loved the art and Nero! Julia is very friendly and it's a great location
Julia is very helpful, kind and wonderful person to stay with. I enjoyed my stay at her house
The house is situated in the Victorian area of the town between St Margaret's Street and Maidstone Road so fairly centrally located. It is 10 minutes walk down to Rochester's historic high street, castle and cathedral with its boutique shops, museums, and many pubs, cafes, restaurants, bars and other nightlife. There are a few parks close by, and the river just 5 minutes walk away down a steep slope, which means there is a great view of the river and boats from the top. Rochester is hilly and The Close is up the hill from the town behind the Watts Almshouses. There is a great view of neighbouring Chatham from the stairwell window, and an awesome panoramic one from the top floor. Chatham, with its historic dockyard and fort, and shopping centre is close by, walkable but easier by car. Strood with its shopping centre is a short walk across the river via the main bridge.
Free parking on the street outside. It can be busy during school drop off and collection times. The Close is a dead end road, so reversing is required. There is space at the entrance to the road where parking is available. This might be easier for guests. Usually it is possible to find a space though.
