Lovely old stone village house in the village of Chevrier, France, at the meeting of the borders between Haute Savoie, the Pays de Gex, and Switzerland. The inside has been completely remodelled, with a largely open plan living / dining area downstairs surrounding a large wood-burning stove, and three spacious bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Ideal for a family of 4 to 6, but could sleep 8 with the sofa-bed on the ground floor. You enter the house to an open plan living area with a central wood burning stove. Towards the back of the house is a well equipped kitchen with dining area, and a door to the private back garden and terrace. From the ground floor, stairs spiral up to the first floor with a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, and the main bathroom, and then up again to the large loft bedroom. There are two sledges and four pairs of raquettes (snow shoes) available to use, in the cupboard on the first floor landing - if you use them, please clean them afterwards and put them back when you have finished.

Le logement correspond aux photos ! Idéalement situé pour aller sur Annecy, à Genève et à 1h des pistes de Lelex ou de La Cluzaz. En hiver, il faut compter 20 € de bois pour 2 jours car malgré les chauffages, l’espace est difficile à chauffer. Nous avons maintenu un 19 degré très correct. Le logement est très bien équipé, un bémol pour la literie du 1er étage (matelas qui nécessiterait d’être changé) Nous avons trouvé des couettes d’appoint ainsi que des oreillers avec les draps nécessaires. Le jardin est entièrement clos et calme. Tout comme la localisation (pas de bruit de circulation) Logement à recommander pour 4 (manque de chaises pour 6 dans la cuisine) Encore merci Emlyn

très agréable séjour dans cette sympathique maison rénovée avec goût. Environnement très calme. Emlyn est une hôte très réactive ....je recommande ! nous y reviendrons !
The house is gorgeous and Emlyn is a great host. Our only problem was that it's quite hear-through, and difficult to get warm in winter. On the other hand Emlyn provides wood for the oven, so that's great.

In the small village of Chevrier at the foot of the Vuache mountain, surrounded by open fields and apple orchards.
The neighbouring village of Vulbens, within easy walking distance, has basic amenities such as a boulangerie, a cafe, and a butcher / cheesemonger / delicatessen.
A little bit further up the road (5 minutes by car) is the town of Valleiry, with a large, well-stocked supermarket, petrol station, post office, banks and restaurants (including a very good pizzeria).
For more extensive shopping, and a wider selection of bars and restaurants, Geneva city centre is only 30 minutes away by car.
Chevrier has a small market on Wednesday afternoons (behind the town hall / school), and there is a larger market in Valleiry on Sunday mornings.
You will need a car to get around, but there are lots of things to see and do within a short drive from the house.
You should have no trouble parking, as there is a private parking space in front of the house, as well as a small public parking just in front which always has spaces available.
