德尔卡斯蒂略(Brownsville) · 整套民居 · 2室2床1.5卫 · 可住4人 · Brownsville's Historic Ross-Averill House
This charming home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Step back in time while you enjoy all that Brownsville has to offer. Learn about the people who have lived in this home since it was built in 1865. Come find where Virgil Averill scratched his name into one of the window panes in the kitchen in 1912. Live a piece of Brownsville's history. Walking distance to Main Street, The Moyer House and many of the "Stand By Me" filming locations. This house is small, but quite charming! It was built in 1865, the year the Civil War ended, so it comes with lots of history. The living room is adorned with photos of our family from the mid to late 19th Century, the early 20th Century as well as a great photo of the Averill family when they lived here, standing in front of the house...wood sidewalk included! The upstairs was originally built as an attic so the steps to the upstairs are steep and uneven (frankly, if you have bad knees, while not impossible, it could be very difficult to go upstairs). Because the house is old, it does have some old house quirks...like uneven floors, single pane (and in most cases, original wavy glass) windows and small rooms. The kitchen and bathrooms, however, are modern, and fully stocked. You'll find extra towels, if needed. The kitchen has plenty of cooking supplies; even for baking!
The home was just as the listing described. It was also very well taken care of in terms of cleanliness. Staying in a historic home was a neat experience. The hosts are very friendly and they added a few nice amenities as an extra touch.
Lauren And Paul were very accommodating and absolutely wonderful hosts. They did a beautiful job of restoring historical home. It belongs to the history of the town And I hope many people come to stay and learn and appreciate this beautiful place. Brownsville has a special place in my heart as that is where my paternal side of the family were from and unfortunately, my dad passed away right before they opened their Airbnb, and he would’ve loved to be able to see what it was like to be inside and to see where my grandma was born and to be up close to the initials of my great great grandfather who carved his name in the window. I am very proud I got to appreciate more now that I am older. I know my father is very proud of me for staying there and learning more about my ancestry and he is smiling from above. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to stay there. It meant the world to us and we will cherish this forever. Ric and Tami
