The Cottage sits near the banks of the River Tees and situated on the Teesdale Way and is a Gateway to Teesdale, Swaledale and Wensleydale. The historic market town of Barnard Castle is less than 15 minutes away. The Lake District National Park is around an hour away, as is the North Yorkshire National Park. From the front door, you can be walking either down stream towards Darlington, or upstream towards Barnard Castle and beyond, with some stunning scenery along the way. Front door access into a lovely cosy living room, through to the fully equipped kitchen, which accommodates a dining table for 4. There is a Utility area, plus a downstairs toilet and sink. From the front door the stairs are immediately in front of you for access to the first floor. There is bedroom one at the front and bedroom 2 at the rear, both having open views over the countryside. There is a modern shower room, with a power shower.

Simon was very quick to respond to our last minute request. He was thoughtful in sending us all the information we needed for a smooth check in. The house is lovely and has everything you need for a family of four. The parking was very easy right outside the property, and the shower was a particular highlight. We slept very well here and our time together in the house was very comfortable. We really enjoyed the local walks and friendly hospitality, and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.

We have just returned from a really nice short stay at the cottage. It was lovely and warm when we arrived and the local organic eggs and milk in the fridge were a nice addition. My children enjoyed the raised reading bed in the second bedroom overlooking the garden and surrounding countryside. The local recommendations and additional travel advice were a great help. The cottage was spotless and really well equipped. Have recommended the cottage to our family who live in the area.
Stayed as a group of 3 adults for a weekend trip. We visited Middleton Lodge for a spa evening and then used the house as a base for walks in the local area. We enjoyed the fire and cosy living area and the fully equipped kitchen! Would definitely recommend to others and stay again in the future

The Blue Cottage is set in a small village on the A67, Barnard Castle road. The village has a Church and a fully refurbished pub and restaurant, called the Spotted Dog, which will be dog friendly.
The village is on the Teesdale Way, so lots of different walks from the front door.
The Blue cottage has on street parking at the front, but there is also private off street parking at the back of the property.
Guests also will have access to a Electric Charging point, access to this is at the rear of the property.
There is an excellent bus service to both Darlington and Barnard Castle.
