Tertsa is a village located on the south east corner of Heraklion Region. It's known as "the tropical village" of Crete! This named was given due to the general warm temperature and the farming of tropical fruits like Bananas and Papayas.
Tertsa is a small village just above of a beautiful and picturesque beach that named after the village. It's a long and wide beach with grey sand, that makes it great choice for all travelers from individuals to couples and families with young children. The iconic rock complex named "Psarocharako" that stands in the middle west part of the beach makes the scenery unique and mysterious. A visit in saint George small Byzantine church just a few meters north of the beach is something you shouldn't miss.
In the village you will find some nice tavernas with traditional Cretan food and a minimarket for the basic shopping.
During your stay you will have the chance to relax and enjoy the local beach, taste some authentic Cretan food in the local tavernas that are just next of the beach. During your stay you may visit other villages like Sidonia on the west and Mirtos on the east.
The closest city is Ierapetra just 22km away, from there you can take a ferry for a daily excursion to the magnificent and stunning Chrissi Island with the pink sand beach. In Ierapetra you can also find all kind of shops and big supermarkets for your shopping and a variety of cafes-restaurants and bars.
For the hiking lovers there are some local beautiful trails to explore like Sarakina and Lapathos gorge.
