11 Distillery Cottages is a 4 bedroomed family home located in the North East of Scotland along the Moray coastline. Located in Inverboyndie, the house is only 6 minutes walk from the mile long sandy beach of Boyndie Bay. The home formed part of the Banff Distillery, which closed down in 1983. Inside are 3 double bedrooms and a twin bedroom. The extra large garden area, proximity to the beach, and the large children’s play park a few minutes walk away, make it ideal for families. 11 Distillery Cottages is a family home with 4 bedrooms (1 king size bed, two doubles and one twin/day bed - all bedding supplied and all fitted with new Emma mattresses). Downstairs, the kitchen/dining area has everything you need to make your morning coffee or full Sunday roast, and has been fitted with new appliances and gas hob. The cosy living room has a wood burning stove, Wi-Fi, smart TV (with Apps) and large couch and snuggler chair to sink into after a day on the beach. Adjoining the living room is the conservatory which is ideal for falling asleep during the day after a long beach walk or watching the stars, and maybe even the northern lights, in the evening. The downstairs double bedroom connects through a small hallway to the wet room equipped with thermostatic rainmaker shower and toilet for those who prefer not to use the stairs. Upstairs comprises of 1 King bedroom, 1 Double and a twin/day bedroom. The upstairs bathroom has an electric shower and large roll top bath, again ideal for relaxing after a busy day - all towels are supplied. The house has a travel cot and mattress (please provide own bedding), a high chair and stair gates. We have tried to make the house as baby/toddler friendly as possible.
Fantastic coastal location, just minutes walk from an amazing beach! First class accommodation with everything you need for a lovely vacation.
A fantastic Accommodation in the most beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful and quiet. Iain and wendy were the perfect hosts. Great communication all through. The accommodation was as described, clean and well kitted out for all our needs. Would highly recommend staying here. Thank you Iain and Wendy
Try as one might, there are no faults to be found in this vacation home: spacious for families, well-equipped kitchen, sensible layout such as having a bathroom on each floor and away from the bedrooms, appliances are fit for use, electrical outlets everywhere, ample parking space, fully detached house from all the neighbours, beautiful view, quiet bedrooms, clean (possibly brand-new) bathrooms, comfy beddings. Phone signal is non-existent (for EE at least) so if making purchases that requires OTP this would not be possible (this is not a fault of the owner/house, just heads up for future occupants). WiFi is adequate and reaches to every corner of the house. Owner reaches out to us and provided all required info. It was us who was lagging behind in communications as we were on holiday mode (with two kids) and were trying to tune out from the world. The entire week's stay was perfect. This is highly recommended, and if we were to come back to Banff we would book this again.
Locally, the home is a 20 minute walk to Whitehills, along the flat coastal path. There, you can reach the The Harbour Galley and the Seafield Arms for delicious food and drinks. Downies Fishmonger is a must for fresh fish to cook at home or you can treat yourself to the best fish and chips in the area (our opinion) from Rockfish fish and chip shop. There is also a newly built convenience store in the town and an art and crafts gallery/shop for you to peruse. For those young at heart, there is a popular children’s playground close to the Whitehills Marina, which itself is filled with a variety of interesting water crafts.
The home is only 5 minutes drive away from the main town of Banff. Here you will find everything you need for your stay, including many supermarkets, craft shops, pubs and cafes. You can also take advantage of the beautiful grounds of Royal Duff House, where you can tour the mansion house and walk in the beautiful grounds.
Those who love their water sports will find surfing, kitesurfing, SUPing and kayaking, all on the doorstep of the house. The beaches and waves are perfect and you can walk home to warm up and get cosy again.
Local activities include golf at Duff House Royal Golf Club, Royal Tarlair Golf Club and Myrus Golf Centre equipped with TopTracer (all located in Banff), surfing in Sandend Bay, fishing in the surrounding rivers, the Macduff Sea-life Aquarium, mountain biking at the Moray Monster Trails - a 30 minute drive away - and skiing/MTB in the mountains just over an hour away in the Cairngorms. If that all sounds too much, you are on the doorstep of the Speyside Whisky Trail where you can visit and sample many whiskeys, and maybe bring some home to sample in front of the fire, or under the stars.
The house benefits from having a bus stop (Inverboyndie Links View) only two minutes walk left out of the house. This allows access as far west as Elgin and as far east as Aberdeen. Unfortunately AirBnB do not allow for links to be shared but a quick internet search of Inverboyndie bus times will provide the timetables.
For those who need quicker transport, Glendeveron taxis service the local area and airports.
