Denbighshire · 整套民居 · 5室0床5.0卫 · 可住10人 · Superb 5 Bed Arts & Craft Country House with Views
Exceptional five-bedroom Arts & Craft style country house nestling among extensive gardens with breathtaking views towards the Clwydian Range. Built in 1929 and Grade II listed, with its period charm and stylish interiors, this wonderful 5 bedroom home is perfect for groups of friends or extended families. Downstairs is a drawing room, dining room and snug but the hub of the house is the contemporary kitchen with original conservatory. Upstairs are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms - all with views! Dolbelidr was built in 1929 in the very popular Arts and Craft style of that era but with a French Chateau in mind. It was built by Lloyd Mainwaring – a colourful“character” who used to land his airplanes in the neighbouring field. The model airplanes in the Drawing Room display cabinets are actual replicas of the airplanes that he flew whilst in the R.A.F. The architect was Sir Guy Dawber who was, at the time, president of the Royal Institute of British architects. Lloyd Mainwaring lived out his life at Dolbelidr and it has been in the family ever since. Although the house has of course been renovated and modernised, the heart of Dolbelidr remains as it was back in the 1920s. The servants’ bells remain (although I would imagine nothing would happen should you ring one!) and the large decorative wardrobe on the landing was designed and built by Susie Mainwaring (the little girl in the portrait in the Drawing Room). There are family portraits, lovingly collected memorabilia and fascinating history of Dolbelidr throughout the house. We only ask that you love and respect these collections as much as we do. Feel free to read our books and magazines and to enjoy our plentiful supply of board games in case of rainy days.
Dolbelidr was the perfect house for an extended family get-together. Judy gave us a warm and friendly welcome when we arrived and explained where everything was. We spent a fun and relaxing few days enjoying this stylish country-house with magnificent views from every direction. The house is perfect for entertaining with a large, sunny conservatory for casual dining and a beautiful formal dining room too. The house is spacious with ample bathrooms and bedrooms for a large group. Downstairs there are a couple of smaller sitting rooms/snugs with TV's to supplement the large family sitting room. The house is beautifully decorated with antique furniture, family portraits and fascinating collections. A superb venue, we were all rather sad to leave!
Dolbelidr nestles among extensive gardens and orchards in the beautiful vale of Clwyd in rural Denbighshire with breathtaking views towards the Clwydian Range. This is a walker’s paradise – a well-known hiking spot is the Moel Famau, the landmark you can see from the house with views down to the Vale. We are ideally situated with easy access from the A55 with transport links to Llandudno, Conwy and Snowdonia. The medieval town of Denbigh (with its shops and restaurants) is just 3 miles away. Conwy Castle and Denbigh Castle are close by, as is the charming city of Chester. You will have a choice of wonderful sandy beaches within a short drive.
We are easy to find and there is of course ample parking for up to 5 cars
