Lovely place! Kate's garden unit is a perfect retreat in the busy Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn. I stayed with my dog, Bonsai and he absolutely loved the huge backyard. The interior is adorably furnished with lots of neat nicknacks. Kate and Nathan are the kindest hosts and always replied to my messages promptly. Enjoy!
Kate and Nathan was super friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. I had an issue one day where I accidentally left the key inside the apartment and Nathan was downstairs helping me within 10 minutes! Large kitchen with plenty of space to cook and eat, big backyard nice sized livingroom. About a 7 min walk to subway that takes you directly into the city. I was a bit hesitant at first about riding late at night but there’s always a lot of people in the area so I felt safe walking home at all hours of the day/night.
Could not have been happier staying here. Slept excellently in the dark, quiet bedroom. I felt instantly at home and was grateful for the well supplied kitchen. Important for me for a long stay. I was working in Manhattan and the commute was easy and reliable. Kate was so kind and helpful with everything I needed. Really can’t recommend it enough.
This spot was absolutely perfect for what we needed! Kate was a great host who was welcoming, responsive and made sure to reach out when needed! We loved the neighborhood and really enjoyed exploring and eating all the food at the delicious surrounding restaurants. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a small spot that can feel like a great home base while you explore Brooklyn.
Crown Heights is a lively and historic neighborhood in Brownstone Brooklyn. There are a variety of restaurants coffee houses and bars within walking distance of the apartment. The restaurants reflect the community, and we hope you will love sampling the offerings: everything from Curry to Empanadas to pastrami sandwiches to of course New York’s finest: the bacon egg and cheese on a roll from the corner deli.
We are a 25 minute walk (or 6 minute Uber) to the Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. While there, enjoy nearby Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Library.
We are 3 blocks from a central train which will take you to downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan in minutes or to Coney Island for a day on the boardwalk.
We are also two blocks from the Long Island Railroad which is one stop to the Barclays Stadium in one direction and an easy way to the airport or beach in the other.
Walking is the best way to explore the neighborhood and the bordering neighborhoods of Prospect Heights and Bed Stuy. We also have many public buses within a 2 block radius and a Citibike station on the corner. The A/C subway line is a short 6 minute walk. As anywhere in the city, street parking can be challenging but we have a car and we do it! Just remember to read parking signs carefully.

I am a photographer married to an editor with 2 college-aged kids. We love living in Brooklyn and taking care of our 125 year old brownstone (which is sometimes like a third child ;) We feel so lucky to live in a vibrant, historic neighborhood of Brooklyn with a lovely community of neighbors. Now that we are "empty nesters" we love the idea of getting out of town more ! We are respectful and conscientious guests, travelers and hosts.
