Stay in a volcano, on a volcano... Don't let your adventure stop at the national park! Come experience living in a luxurious volcano dome home where you will live in synergy with the natural exquisite surroundings. The cinder we used to build the whole dome comes from the local query produced from big island's natural volcanic features. We promise you'll lava it! Welcome to Inn a Volcano! Enter through the archway and be transported into a Volcano. With 25+ feet high ceilings and a skylight at the cherry top, the sunlight shines onto floor that is... lava. Looking hot, right? No worries because the 16 inch thick cindercrete walls keep things cool and regulated. And guess what? The dome doubles as a sound studio. Stand in the middle of the dome and hear the deep echo created by the cindercone shaped room. Cue the music! Waking up from snuggling the softest sheets in the cozy circle bed, you can brew your morning coffee or pick some hibiscus from the garden and make fresh tea. The bedroom was designed with relaxation and comfort in mind. This is a perfect place to unwind after a long day. Lava lamp niches set the mood at night and the coqui frogs will sing you to sleep as you stargaze through the skylight. The bathroom is a blissful calm contrast from the firey red walls and lava floor in the main room. Open the circle window and breath the fresh rainforest air above the custom made hand polished limestone bathtub. Light a candle and take a bath or use the rainfall shower head. Admire the jungle flora just outside of the bathroom window, full of vibrant colors and life. Champagne is available on request. This property is fully off-the-grid with the electricity being powered by the sun and the rainwater being harvested from the house next door. We love to let people experience a luxury version of off-grid life, flushing toilet included. Everything in this volcano is custom-made. We spent the better part of 8 months trying to create the best luxury eco experience possible for all guests. We hope that you see the beauty in each detail we thought of just for you. Luxury Services: •Champagne is available on request. •Laundry Service $10 per load. Location and Amenities: Strategically located- •19 miles (25 minutes) from Hilo •23 miles (35 minutes) from Pahoa •12 miles (15 minutes) from Keaau •10 minutes from Volcano Town A high clearance vehicle (4x4 not needed) is an ideal choice when staying here as the last 500 feet of the drive is off-road and quite rocky. You will transverse your private entrance passing the Cassandra's (the host's) tiny house. When you arrive you will be greeted by the serene beauty of the jungle. While is isn't 100% private as the host lives next door, we can still promise a peaceful escape from the everyday world. We recommend stopping for snacks in Hilo or Keaau on the way up as those towns have more options than the sleepy Volcano Village. Comprehensive List of Amenities and Features: • Circle Window Shower/Bath • FlushingToilet • Heart Marble Sink • Organic Shampoo/Conditioner • Organic Hand Soap • Towels • Epsom Salts and Bubble Bath • Ample Parking • Circle Bed • Clean Linens • Magazines/ guide books • Ear Plugs • Side Tables • Mini Fridge • Kitchen Sink • Extra Blankets • Bug Spray • Lanai • Garden • Outlets (3-prong and USB) • Single burner induction cook plate. It's not a full kitchen. It's best to reheat food and make a small breakfast. Important Considerations Before Booking: As luxurious and adventurous as Inn a Volcano is, staying in an off-grid volcano dome home in the Hawaiian jungle comes with expected 'challenges.' My goal is to give you an experience that combines Tarzan's hideout with a 5-star experience so lets get you prepped! 1. Water Source •The tap water comes from rain catchment. It is not potable (not for drinking.) We will provide drinking water. 2. Electricity •We're solar-powered, so please conserve energy. No leaving lights or high voltage items on, such as hair dryers and unplug the cookplate when not in use please. The windows and a skylight allows ample natural light during the day. 3. Weather •We are located on the rainy side of the Big Island so be prepared for wet weather. Enjoy the pitter patter of rain like a playlist. Let it relax you, and don't let it dampen your plans. 4. Wildlife •Since we are in the jungle, don't be shocked if you see bugs and insects such as moths, fruit flies, and mosquitoes, especially after heavy rains and heavy fruit falls. We provide bug spray, but feel free to bring your own if you're extra sensitive. 5. Night Sounds •There will be jungle sounds of coqui frogs, wild pigs, cats, and the occasional bark from your friendly guard dog. Don't fret, this is part of the tropical experience. 6. Cell Service Our 16 inch thick red cinder walls block most signal. You can connect to the wifi outside and a bit if you open the kitchen window. We recommend downloading some shows on Netflix before you come or take it as a chance to unplug and enjoy the present moment. Upon booking, you'll agree to all these terms and conditions. Guest Interaction: Your experience at Inn a Volcano is tailored to your needs. I aim to ensure your stay is unforgettable. Depending on time of arrival, someone will greet you and provide a property tour, or we can arrange for a convenient key stowaway. If you have any questions or any problem arises please call, text, or email anytime. In the unlikely event of an issue, I will promptly contact the appropriate parties to ensure a swift resolution.
Super cute place to stay on the Island! Very close to Volcanoes National Park and a very manageable drive after a long day of hiking! The volcano house had a lot of little cute details, and you can tell the hosts put a lot of thought into it!
We loved our stay at the Volcano and wish we could have stayed longer! It was clean, cozy, and clearly attention was paid to every detail. It will be a story to share for years to come!
Absolutely beautiful place. Great for a getaway and to experience such a unique stay. Cassandra was out of town but left plenty of instructions and checked in with us many times.
The Volcano is located in a quaint neighborhood, about 10 minutes away from the national park. A high clearance vehicle is an ideal choice when staying here as the roads are quite rocky. While is isn't 100% private as the host lives next door we can still promise a peaceful escape from the everyday world.
The Volcano is 19 miles (25 minutes) from Hilo, 23 miles (35 minutes) from Pahoa, 12 miles (15 minutes) from Keaau and 10 minutes from Volcano Town. We recommend stopping for snacks in Hilo or Keaau on the way up as those towns have more options than the sleepy Volcano Village.
a high clearance vehicle is ideal (4 wheel drive is not necessary), the road to the Volcano can be pretty bumpy especially after a big storm although it is only about 2-3 minutes off the pavement. Ubers and lyfts do not operate regularly in this area.
自我介绍
Hello, I am Cassandra. I am originally from Florida but moved to the Big Island years ago with the dream of having my own off-grid, self sustainable property with fruit trees. Although I had virtually zero building or homesteading experience, I did watch a lot of youtube videos and was confident I would be able to figure it out. Soon after I finally finished building, I heard of the Airbnb OMG! Fund and entered. Building the volcano was amazing!
