My family visited the area to do a campus tour of SIU, and this was the perfect location for the four of us and our dog. The view in the morning is BEAUTIFUL. Very comfortable accommodations, and the kids loved the ping pong table. We’ll definitely be back!

Great location. Easy 10-minute drive to Carbondale for groceries, restaurants, etc. Situated for easy access to Giant City State Park, the Shawnee National Forest, wineries and all the other activities offered in the area. Highly recommend the Shawnee Bluffs Canopy tours (zip line), Cache Bayou canoe/kayak tours and Blue-Sky Vineyard in addition to all the various hiking trails within a 15-to-30-minute drive. Also be sure to grab a sandwich and fresh homemade dessert at the Farmstead Country Market in Anna, Illinois! House rental was clean and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen. The hot tub was an added bonus after several days of grueling hiking. Beautiful view from rear deck. Highly recommend if planning or even considering a trip to enjoy the natural beauty of this area. Host (Allison) was very responsive and provided copious amounts of information for area resources, rentals and restaurants. No issues with timely communication and check in was seamless.

Allison's house in Carbondale was fantastic. There was lots of space to stretch out--very comfortable for a family of five. The hot tub and fire pit had beautiful views. I watched the sunset over the treeline from the hot tub. We were easily able to connect our phones to the tv so we could use our own streaming services. Everything was updated; the bathrooms looked brand new. We were about 10 minutes from a Walmart and 30 minutes from The Little Grand Canyon Trail.

It was nearly perfect. Just wish we could’ve had an extra night. Later checkout would be nice. The hot tub didn’t seem to be working right, but we may just not have known what we were doing 😅 beautiful view. Kids loved the ping pong table and hot tub. Moms loved the patio furniture on the deck.

The house and its location provided a perfect combination of relaxation and adventure during a spring break getaway for my young family. The rocking chairs on the back porch allowed for sunset viewing and snuggles, while reading to the littles. We also enjoyed s’mores under a starry sky by the fire ring. Inside, the two levels gave us (family of five and grandparents) plenty of room to spread out and play. Nearby adventures included Giant City State Park for its hiking and playgrounds, as well as “Castle” playground (Jeremy Boo Rochman Memorial Park); we went consecutive days per the kids’ requests. 😊 Makanda General Store also pleased our crowd with coffee and ice cream after hiking.
